This program aims to introduce students at Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic (UASP) to the essential skills of editing and contributing to Wikipedia. Participants will learn how to create accounts, edit articles, add references, and follow Wikipedia’s content guidelines. The training encourages students to share verified information about Sokoto, its culture, notable people, and institutions. By taking part, students will improve their digital literacy, research ability, and confidence in contributing to Wikimedia knowledge projects.

It's a one day physical training and one day Awareness.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

I will let them know via WhatsApp group of Hausa Community and Hausa Wikipedia Discussion page

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

I will invite the participants during awareness and some other participants will know via WhatsApp groups and phone call

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead/assist the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse and sign your proposal as proof of availability)

During the training, participants will learn how to create user accounts, understand Wikipedia editing guidelines, add reliable references, improve article quality, and contribute constructive content. The workshop will also highlight the importance of open knowledge, neutrality, copyright, and verifiability—core principles that guide Wikipedia.
