1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

To carry out the Wikipedia Awareness and Editathon in Zamfara State project, I plan to conduct a series of editathons and training sessions. Here's a breakdown of the approach:

Initial Wikipedia Awareness Session: A single event to introduce Wikipedia and its benefits to the community.
Series of Editathons: 3-4 editathons, each focusing on a specific theme or topic relevant to Zamfara State, such as:

- Editathon 1: Zamfara State history and culture
- Editathon 2: Local government and politics
- Editathon 3: Education and healthcare
- Editathon 4: Women's empowerment and gender equality

By conducting a series of editathons and training sessions, we can: -Build a community of Wikipedia contributors and editors -Increase participation and retention -Cover a range of topics and themes -Provide ongoing support and skill development -Foster a sustainable Wikipedia presence in Zamfara State

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

To inform relevant Wikimedia communities and external audiences about the proposal, I've taken the following steps:

Wikimedia Movement Strategy Forum: Shared the proposal on the forum to reach a broader Wikimedia audience.
Wikimedia User Group Nigeria talk page: Posted about the proposal to engage with Nigeria Wikimedia communities.
Hausa Wikimedians User Group: Shared the proposal with the local Hausa community.
Zamfara State Social Media Groups: Shared the proposal on local Facebook and WhatsApp groups to reach potential participants.
Twitter: Utilized hashtags #WikipediaAwareness #Editathon #ZamfaraState to share updates and engage with interested individuals.
Partner Organization Social Media: Our partner organization will share updates on their social media channels to amplify the project's reach.

By sharing the proposal through these channels, we've generated interest and gathered feedback from Wikimedia communities, local organizations, and potential participants.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

To inform participants about the edit-a-thon and communicate with them, we'll use the following channels:

-Facebook: Create an event page and share updates, reminders, and resources.
-Twitter: Utilize hashtags and tag relevant handles to share information and engage with participants.
-WhatsApp: Create a group for participants to share information, ask questions, and receive updates.

On-wiki Spaces:

-Wikipedia Nigeria page: Share information and updates on the project's Wikipedia page.
-Zamfara State WikiProject page: Create a page for the project to centralize information and resources.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

Zamfara is one of the seven states that form the North-West geopolitical zone of Nigeria. It shares an international border with the Republic of Niger to the North and interstate boundaries with Katsina State to the East, Sokoto State to the West, and Kebbi States to the South.

Tertiary institutions in the state are Federal University,Zamfara State University,Federal Polytechnic,Federal College of Education,Zamfara State College of Education and Zamfara State College of Art and Sciences.etc

Unfortunately regrettably, despite the positive developments in the state, there is a complete lack of editors. I feel obligated to launch the first Wikimedia promotion Awareness /Workshop in Zamfara State as a indigene of the state were Residents asking to know more about Wikipedia in order to contribute with free knowledge.

I’m an experienced editor from Hausa community. I helped organise many workshops and training. I will oversee the project's progress, ensure effective communication and contribute to content creation.

I Umar Askira Strong support this awareness and edit-a-thon project to be done in Zamfara state. This project will implement highly potential impacts to community and its development. Zamfara state is one of the Hausa largest land in Nothern and Wikipedia need to be introduced to the community members for the purpose of research and contributing to wikipedia. I personally endorsed this project.
