- Hausa Wiktionary Contest aims to revitalize development by encouraging Hausa Wikimedian participation. The contest will incentivize creating & improving Hausa Wiktionary articles, focusing on areas like vocabulary expansion & definition improvement to enrich resources for Hausa learners & speakers.
Lack of editors in hausa Wiktionary It was I decided to apply for a grant in order to planning a project to teach a number of participants how to edit in Hausa Wiktionary. This program will provide training, edit-aton and writing contest to participants about Wiktionary to participants. The program will also enhance Hausa Wiktionary by producing improved articles on Wiktionary.

- One physical training, one online training and writing contest.
2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.
- The relevant Wikimedia will be announced via Hausa Wikimedians User Group (WhatsApp group chat and Hausa Wiktionary discussion page).
3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.
- I will let the participants know via, phone calls, SMS messages, Emails and our I will also announce via Our Hausa Wikimedians WhatsApp and Telegram groups, I will also announce via our Hausa Wiktionary Discussion pages. And others social media handles.

Scoring Criteria for Hausa Wiktionary Contest:
1. Number of Valid New Entries Created (40 points)
- Each correctly formatted new word entry: 2 points
- A valid entry must include:
- Word in Hausa
- Correct definition
- Pronunciation (if possible, using IPA or audio)
- Example sentence demonstrating usage
- Bonus (+1 point per entry) for:
- Adding synonyms, antonyms, or etymology
- Including references to reliable sources
2. Quality and Accuracy of Entries (30 points)
- Well-structured and correctly formatted entries: up to 10 points
- Proper Hausa grammar, spelling, and clear definitions: up to 10 points
- Entries with reliable citations (e.g., dictionaries, academic sources): up to 10 points
3. Expansion and Improvement of Existing Entries (20 points)
- Enhancing definitions, adding missing sections, or improving formatting: 2 points per improvement
- Correcting errors in existing words and improving clarity: up to 5 points per entry
- Adding well-researched etymology or pronunciation guides: up to 5 points per entry
4. Engagement, Collaboration, and Community Participation (10 points)
- Providing constructive feedback on other participants' entries: up to 5 points
- Participating in discussions on talk pages to improve content: up to 5 points
5. Disqualification Criteria
- Entries copied from non-free sources without proper attribution.
- Poorly structured or incomplete entries that do not meet Hausa Wiktionary standards.
- Vandalism or addition of incorrect information.
6. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?
- Yes, they have equipment and skills needed to participate and contribute a high quality content. They have a smart phones.
7. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
- The participants will be engaged after the events by our WhatsApp group which I have created, which I will continue engaged them there for solution the hidden issues for them.
8. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
- Yes I have, this project is primary objectives include training participants in Wiktionary editing techniques and expanding the Taraba-specific lexicon. By equipping linguists, educators, students, and community members with the necessary skills, we aim to encourage active participation in the Wikimedia movement. Which is the first Wiktionary event will take place in Taraba, if my application approved.

- IBaban Sadiq 2 am the project organizer, I will lead the project with help of these facilitators.
- M Bash Ne,is also an experienced Wikimedian editor, more especially on Hausa Wikipedia and other Wikimedia sisters projects, he organized and lead many projects, and facilitated several projects before and he is a member at the Hausa Wikimedians User Group and Wikimedia User Group Nigeria.
- One Lecturer in Taraba State, will be the project facilitator, And he will help us to engaging participants before the event and during the training.
