- Zamfara State is deeply affected by environmental degradation due to artisanal mining, deforestation, desertification, and pollution. These issues are underrepresented on Wikimedia projects. Through this campaign, we aim to equip students with the knowledge and skills to document human rights and environmental topics related to their communities, thereby increasing local content and awareness. Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now — focusing on youth-led knowledge sharing about environmental justice, human rights, and the right to a healthy and sustainable future. So, through this wikimedia project will be awareness to Gusau community and I'll be achieved my target.

Project Goal

- recruit new editors
- Raise awareness about the #WikiForHumanRights campaign 2025 in Gusau.
- Train participants on how to contribute to Wikipedia and Wiktionary.
- Create or improve at least 500 articles related to human rights and the environment.

- It's a two days series of events: workshop, training and writing contest:
1. Day 1 – Physical Workshop:
Introduction to Wikimedia platforms and the #WikiForHumanRights campaign.
Hands-on editing and account creation.
2. Day 2 Edit-a-thons ( sessions):
Guided article improvement and creation sessions (in-person or hybrid).
Focused on mining, health, climate change, clean water, and indigenous practices.
3. Writing Contest:
Participants will competition to create/improve the most high-quality articles during the project period.
2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.
- I will be notified on Hausa Wikipedia discussion page Hausa Wiktionary discussion page and main WhatsApp user group
3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.
- I will create an Whatsapp group to communication with them.
4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead/assist the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse and sign your proposal as proof of availability)

- Yes they have a smart phones and some of them have a laptops.
6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
- Participants will be added to a WhatsApp group which I have created for ongoing mentorship, Continued guidance and evaluations. To solving there issues about wikimedias.
7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
- Yes, this project will raise awareness on environmental rights and empower students in Gusau to contribute to Wikimedia and share local knowledge. And considering the lack of active editors in Hausa Wiktionary, I am sure that if this project is founded, it will help to get active editors in Hausa Wiktionary and Wikipedia as well. For my ambition, I have developed and improved wikimedia projects by conducting this awareness and campaign #WikiForHumanRighs 2025.

Contest & prize-giving events
[edit]How would decide the winners of your contest (If you are going to have a contest, what is your scoring criteria)
Winners will be selected based on the quality and quantity of their contributions. Points will be awarded for creating new Wikipedia and Wiktionary articles, improving existing ones, A panel of experienced Wikimedians will review all contributions using the Wikipedia foundation Outreach Dashboard. The top contributors with the highest points will receive prizes, and all active participants will get certificates.
