From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Project summary

[edit]

Briefly summarize your project proposal.

The need to further the awareness of Wikimedia projects and activate a Wikimedia community in Taraba State stems from its low participation in Wikimedia projects, highlighted by the lack of representation during Wikimedia Nigeria's Train The Trainer Northeast Edition in Gombe. Despite Taraba’s youthful population and rich cultural and historical heritage, its stories remain undocumented on global knowledge platforms like Wikipedia.

After series of online training for new editors residing in Taraba State and their desire for an in-person training to consolidate and reinforce their learning, community bonding and networking, this campaign seeks to further raise awareness and build capacity among residents to engage with Wikimedia projects. Through workshops and outreach, it will empower individuals to document and share Taraba’s unique narratives, creating a vibrant community of contributors.

By amplifying local voices, this initiative will integrate Taraba residents especially the higher institutions students into the global knowledge network, fostering inclusivity, collaboration, and lifelong learning.
