Project summary

[edit]

Briefly summarize your project proposal.

  • Empowering New Editors on Wiktionary 2025 aims to introduce and train a new generation of Wikimedia contributors with a special focus on Wiktionary. Many potential editors are not aware of how Wiktionary works or how they can actively contribute to building free and accessible knowledge in local and global languages. This project seeks to close that gap by organizing awareness sessions, hands-on training, and mentorship opportunities for new editors. Through these activities, participants will learn the fundamentals of editing, creating, and improving entries on Wiktionary, while also gaining an understanding of its importance in language preservation and digital literacy. Ultimately, the initiative strives to build a sustainable community of skilled contributors who will continue to enrich Wiktionary beyond the project timeline.
