Project summary
[edit]Briefly summarize your project proposal.
This project ‘’Youth And SDGs Advocacy Through Wikipedia At OAU Campus’’ is designed to engage and train students of Obafemi Awolowo University on how to use Wikipedia as a tool for advocacy and public awareness, with a strong focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Many young people are passionate about creating change but often lack the knowledge or platform to do so. This initiative aims to bridge that gap. Participants will first be introduced to the SDGs what they are, why they matter, and how each goal connects to issues in our society. They will also learn about Wikipedia, how it works, and how it can be used to share reliable information with a global audience. After the training, students will take part in a hands-on edit-a-thon where they’ll create or improve articles related to key SDG topics like gender equality, quality education, climate action, health, and more. This way, they’re not only learning how to edit Wikipedia, but also using their voices and research skills to advocate for important issues. The project will empower students with both knowledge and practical skills, helping them become part of the global movement for open knowledge and sustainable development starting right from our campus.
