Grants:Wikimedia UG Nigeria Grants/Wikimedia User Group Nigeria Community Support Fund/Fixing reference errors in Igbo Wikipedia articles 1.0 in Anambra Network
Project summary
[edit]Briefly summarize your project proposal.
Reference errors do occur while translating English Articles to Igbo Articles if not done properly, One of the most common reference errors is when a citation or reference is missing altogether, Reference errors can occur when there are syntax errors in the citation templates especially when the template is missing in the language, improper formatting of parameters can lead to reference errors.References cited in an article may be deleted from the source where they were originally hosted before translation, leading to reference errors. There are about 800+ articles in Igbo Wikipedia that have these error, and correcting these errors would help in improving the quality of articles in Igbo Wikipedia thereby working towards the project 2030 movement to diversify the WIKIMEDIA platform by involving the underrepresented. Embarking on this project would help recruit new editors and give opportunity to create awareness about the free open Knowledge``` . It will also tend to improving the old editors skills and enlightening them more on how to remove red links mostly seen on translated articles.
