This project aims to introduce Wikimedia volunteers s to the Wiki Loves Africa campaign by training them to document African culture, lifestyle, environment, and heritage through photography and contribute media files to Wikimedia Commons. The campaign will include training workshops, a photo walk, editing sessions, and a local contest to encourage participation. The goal is to increase participation and successfully train a specific number of new contributors from Akwa Ibom.

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?
We will host a physical training session and Upload-aton
2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.
We will promote this proposal via the WUGN — Akwa Ibom State WhatsApp community, and social media (Instagram/Facebook).
3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.
Communication will be passed through a dedicated WhatsApp group for updates and email for formal guides/resources.
4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead/assist the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse and sign your proposal as proof of availability)

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?
We will provide data support to participants and use and also guide beginners through their first uploads.
6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
Through the WhatsApp group, upcoming projects, contest, and other wikimidia programs.
7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
This project is to target underrepresented cultural content from Akwa Ibom to ensure global visibility.

- We will use the Programs & Events Dashboard to track participants and contributions throughout the campaign.
Contest & prize-giving events

- Good photo quality
- Pictures relevance to the theme
- Accuracy of image descriptions/metadata.
