Project summary

- This project aims to bridge the knowledge and digital literacy gap in Zamfara State by empowering communities to actively participate in the creation, sharing, and use of reliable information on Wikipedia and its sister projects. Many communities in Zamfara face challenges such as limited access to quality educational resources, low digital skills, and underrepresentation of their culture, language, and history online.
Through this initiative, we will organize targeted training workshops for youths, teachers, and community volunteers on digital literacy, fact-checking, and Wikipedia editing skills. Participants will learn how to contribute accurate, locally relevant, and well-sourced articles in English and Hausa, thereby preserving local knowledge and making it accessible to the world. The project will also include outreach programs in schools and community centers to raise awareness about open knowledge, online safety, and responsible content creation.

- I will share via Hausa Wikimedians General WhatsApp group which I'm already in, and I will share via other social media of Hausa Community groups which I belong
3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.
