Project summary

- This project aims to introduce and train new and existing Wikimedia contributors in Northwest Nigeria on the fundamentals of editing and contributing to Wikidata. Wikidata, as a central open data repository, plays a vital role in supporting Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects by providing structured, machine-readable information. Through a series of practical workshops and guided sessions, participants will learn how to create and edit items, add reliable references, link data across Wikimedia projects, and apply best practices for maintaining data quality. The program will target community members, students, librarians, and digital volunteers, with the goal of increasing both the quantity and quality of Northwest Nigeria–related data on Wikidata.

- Via Group Hausa community User Group and Borno community WhatsApp group.
3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.
