• Hausa Wiktionary Contest aims to revitalize development by encouraging Hausa Wikimedian participation. The contest will incentivize creating & improving Hausa Wiktionary articles, focusing on areas like vocabulary expansion & definition improvement to enrich resources for Hausa learners & speakers.

Lack of editors in hausa Wiktionary It was I decided to apply for a grant in order to planning a project to teach a number of participants how to edit in Hausa Wiktionary. This program will provide training, edit-aton and writing contest to participants about Wiktionary to participants. The program will also enhance Hausa Wiktionary by producing improved articles on Wiktionary.

One physical training, one online training and writing contest.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

The relevant Wikimedia will be announced via Hausa Wikimedians User Group (WhatsApp group chat and Hausa Wiktionary discussion page) and Via Kano Wikimedians WhatsApp group

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

I will let the participants know via, phone calls, SMS messages, Emails and our existence WhatsApp group Kano Wikimedians. I will also announce via Our Hausa Wikimedians WhatsApp and Telegram groups, I will also announce via our Hausa Wiktionary Discussion pages. And others social media handles.

The participants will be engaged after the events by creating a WhatsApp group, which I will continue engaged them there for solution the hidden issues for them.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

Yes I have, this project is primary objectives include training participants in Wiktionary editing techniques and expanding the Sokoto State-specific lexicon. By equipping linguists, educators, students, and community members with the necessary skills, we aim to encourage active participation in the Wikimedia movement.

I User:M Bash Ne, I am the project organizer, I will lead the project with help of this facilitator.

User: Abubakar Kaddi, will be the project facilitator, is an experienced Wikimedian editor he has organized many Wikimedian Projects in Northern Nigeria. He's a member at Hausa Wikimedia User Group and also member at Wikimedians User Group Nigeria, And also is a Sokoto indigenuos, he will help us during the training and engaging participants before the event.

2. Refreshments for participants - ₦40,000
3. Banner - ₦15,000
4. Flyers for online promotion - ₦15,000
5. Data reimbursement for online training - ₦20,000
6. Contest prizes - ₦175,000 (prizes for 1-3 and souvenir for top ten editors.
7. Contingency = ₦15,000

Total = ₦320,000
