Learning the Basics of Editing on Wikidata in North East, aims to introduce new contributors in the North East region of Nigeria to the Wikimedia foundational skills of projects and contributing to Wikidata. Through targeted workshops and practical hands-on training sessions, this initiative will equip participants especially youth, students, and educators with essential knowledge about structured data, Wikidata projects, and editing practices. The goal is to bridge the knowledge gap and increase participation from underrepresented communities in Wikidata by building local capacity. This project will not only improve digital literacy but also contribute to the visibility of local knowledge, notable figures, and cultural data from the North East on a Wikimedia projects.

- Via Group Hausa community User Group and Borno community WhatsApp group.
3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

- By the end of the project we expect to train at least 20 new editors create or improve wikidata items related to the North East
