Project Plan
[edit]Activities
[edit]Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?
- We will conduct a one day of training workshop over two days focused on Wikimedia Commons and Hausa Wikipedia. Together with User: Mlamido, we will teach participants how to upload images to Wikimedia Commons and utilize these images in Hausa Wikipedia articles.
Two professional photographers, who are not currently Wikimedians, will also join us to train participants on capturing high-quality photos (we will help them to create Wikimedia account and guide them to contribute to Wikimedia project before the end of the project). Selected participants from various parts of Maiduguri will have the opportunity to take photographs themselves over five days. This will culminate in an upload and edit-a-thon day, where we will screen and upload the images to Wikimedia Commons and incorporate them into Hausa Wikipedia articles.
2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.
- We will share via Hausa Community WhatsApp group and Hausa Wikipedia Discussion Page
3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.
- They will know via Wikimedians of Maiduguri's WhatsApp Group and also we will invite and select them via Google form.
4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead/assist the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse and sign your proposal as proof of availability)
For example: User:Kaizenify
5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?
- The Participants wil use their Smartphones Cameras but we will recommend them to use high quality cameras. And other Participants will use Camera.
6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
- I will continue engaging them via WhatsApp Group
7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
