The Open Knowledge & Wikipedia Training at Gusau is a capacity-building program designed to introduce participants to the principles of open knowledge and the practical skills of contributing to Wikipedia. The training aims to empower students, youth, and community members in Gusau with the ability to access, create, and share reliable information online. Through hands-on sessions, participants will learn how to create user accounts, understand Wikipedia guidelines, edit articles, add reliable references, and contribute to knowledge that represents Gusau and Nigeria accurately on the global project.

We plan to organize a two-day intensive physical training workshop.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

We will post it in their various WhatsApp groups

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead/assist the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse and sign your proposal as proof of availability)

User:Aminu Badamasi will lead the event, and User:Nura Bello from Gusau Zamfara state, and User:Hamza DK will be invited to help me with the training. I have informed him, and he has agreed to facilitate

What resources do you need? For your funding request, list bullet points for each expense as a unit amount and include a total amount.

  1. Event hall for two days = N50,000×2= 100,000.
  2. Branded T-shirts for organizer and facilitator: N16,000
  3. Event banner: ₦20,000.
  4. Projector rental: ₦15,000.
  5. Food and refreshments for participants and facilitators ₦3,000×20;for two Days= ₦120,000.
  6. Flyers ₦10,000
  7. Organisers ₦15,000×2= 30,000
  8. Contingency: ₦20,000.
