Project Plan
[edit]Activities
[edit]Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?
- We will be doing one photowalk to 3 different sites, one editathon, and a session of online training.
- The tourist sites include; Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove, Nike Art Center, and the National Museum Ile Ife.
2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.
- I have notified the WUGN Community and Osun Wikimedia Network
3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.
- I and other co-facilitators will communicate with the participants through the network's WhatsApp group. We will also promote the project through the network's official Social Media platforms (Facebook, and X) and other WhatsApp platforms in Osun State. This will help recruit new editors.
4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead/assist the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse and sign your proposal as proof of availability)
For example: User:Kaizenify
5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?
- Yes, participants already have smartphones and laptops. All the participants are equally computer literate.
6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
- We will do a follow-up with participants, add them to the network's WhatsApp platform for further engagement. We will provide them with tips on creating, and editing Wikicommons.
7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
- Images of the listed tourist attractions, and cultural heritage sites are not adequately covered on Wikimedia Commons. This project will be an opportunity to contribute high quality images of these Nigeria Monuments, that will be uploaded on Wikimedia Commons for free usage.
- The editathon under this project will help to adequately train the students on how to make media files more visible, free, and reusable on Wikipedia.
- It will help to increase the number of contributors to Wikimedia Common and other Wikimedia projects in Osun tate.
