The grassroot government which is the local administration is the third tier of governance in Nigeria. This local government administration has Chairmen and Councilors that take the lead in grassroot administration. The secretariats are the headquarters with various departments that see to the local needs of the people at that level line the Department of Education, health, agriculture, works and infrastructure, among others. There are also Councilors that represent the various wards for effective governance. Thus, this project is aimed to document these local government secretariats with their Chairmen and Councilors to give visibilities to the local administration. Observations have shown that many local government headquarters, Chairmen and Councilors are lacking in Wikimedia.

It is also surprising that many people do not even know where their local government headquarters are situated and the people representing them. This project aims to contribute this free knowledge and learning. The project will be creating items and improving existing items on local government secretariats and representatives in Wikidata for open knowledge and research. This project will also be used to hand over the new leadership in Wikimedia User Group Nigeria Anambra Network as well as mark the 3rd Anniversary of the Network. It will be a tripartite events for value added.

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

Yes. It will be one facilitation and one editathon 2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

The members of the Network are aware of the project and are looking forward to it. It has been a subject of discussion in all our activities and meetings since early this year.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

This will be posted in our social media platform, whatsapp and on-wiki spaces.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead/assist the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse and sign your proposal as proof of availability)

Yes, the participants have smart electronic devices to work with. The training will enhance their skills to participate effectively

The new editors will be added to the general platform for guidance, follow-up and feedback. The existing communication platform will be used for follow-up

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This event is a good space for knowledge creation on local governance and their representatives. It is also a good fit for the hand over ceremony and 3rd anniversary of Anambra Network.
