From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Project summary

[edit]

Briefly summarize your project proposal.

  • This project is about collecting and sharing the wise words of world religious leaders, especially the Cardinals, on Igbo Wikiquote. Many of these voices are missing in the Igbo language online, and this project will help make sure their inspiring messages are available for everyone to read and learn from in Igbo. It is more than just adding quotes — it’s about promoting the Igbo language by using it to share knowledge that reaches across cultures and faiths. When important quotes are written in Igbo, it helps keep our language alive, gives it more space on the internet, and shows that Igbo can be used to talk about global ideas. The project will include:
  1. A training seminar on how to use Igbo Wikiquote and its editing tools
  2. An edit-a-thon where participants will add quotes from religious leaders into Igbo Wikiquote
  3. It will also serve as a medium for our community end-of-the-year gathering

User:Ebube Clara a member of the communication team, will help with the program publicity and logistics.

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Yes, participants have their laptops and phones. We will organize training sessions to engage participants in teamwork and collaboration.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

We will collate the details of the participants and add them to our various social media groups and keep them updated on our community activities.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

In the end, this project will make Igbo Wikiquote richer, more diverse, and more useful for everyone — from students to researchers and anyone who loves to read inspiring quotes in their own language. It’s a step towards making sure the Igbo language continues to have a strong and respected voice in the global knowledge community.
