  • This a hands-on project designed to equip Wikimedia editors with the skills to use essential Wikidata tools like Wikidata Query Service, Quick Statements, and OpenRefine. Through focused training sessions and a collaborative edit-a-thon, participants will learn to enhance and streamline their contributions to Wikidata. The goal is to empower editors to add, update, and manage data more effectively,thereby enriching wikidata with well-structured and reliable data.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

Our Target Participants are Student,Teachers,Data Analyst and Scientist,New and Existing Wikimedian editors
We’ll promote the edit-a-thon on Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp and LinkedIn, using targeted posts to announce the event on the social media platforms of our target Participants, share updates, and invite participation. By leveraging these platforms, we aim to attract a diverse group of participants interested in open data and Wikidata, ensuring a successful and collaborative event.

Yes, Participants have the equipment and Skills needed to contribute to the success of this project.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

We will engage participants after the event through follow-up emails with resources and next steps, hosting post-event discussions on our WhatsApp platform , and encouraging continued participation in ongoing Wikidata editing projects and initiatives.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This project will equip participants with technical skills while fostering a community of Wikidata editors. It will also encourage ongoing collaboration and integration of Wikidata into Wikipedia and Wikivoyage, enhancing content accuracy and consistency across these platforms.

Sylvesterchukwu04(Organizer & Facilitator) : I am an experienced wikimedian editor and trainer on Wikidata.Having led Wikidata projects which includes Harnessing the Power of Open Data etc. I will see through to the overall success of this event.
Kingaustin07(Co-Facilitator) : He is an experienced editor and trainer on Wikidata who will help teach participants how to use these Wikidata technical tools.
