From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Project summary

[edit]

Briefly summarize your project proposal.

The project, Improving Wikidata References of Nigerian Academics and Scientists, aims to enhance the quality, reliability, and sustainability of Wikidata items related to Nigerian scholars. Although many Nigerian academics and scientists already have Wikidata entries, a significant number lack reliable references to verify their identities, affiliations, achievements, and contributions. This gap makes the items vulnerable to deletion and limits their usefulness for research and knowledge discovery.

The project team has already identified Nigerian academics and scientists with poorly referenced Wikidata records and these hundreds of items would be improved by adding citations from credible and verifiable sources, including university websites, scholarly profiles, institutional publications, and reputable news sources.
