Proposed
Project summary
[edit]Briefly summarize your project proposal.
New Page Patrol is an integral part of keeping Wikipedia reliable. It is the process of reviewing newly created articles on Wikipedia; making sure they meet Wikipedia Policies and Guidelines. Without new page patrollers, there will be no standard for Wikipedia; as any type of article will be added to Wikipedia eg., promotional articles, self articles, paid articles, hoaxes and attacks to individuals, companies, institutions, governments etc. Wikipedia wouldn’t have lasted and reach our time (As Wikipedia is here to stay). Through new page patrolling, editors are able to track vandalism and mark for deletion, or good and well sourced articles and mark “as reviewed”. Sadly, New Page Patrollers are only available on English Wikipedia and other International Languages. Out local Language Wikipedias lacks new page patrollers and thus, most newly created articles are not properly vetted and reviewed. Which ever type of article is created is left without reviewing them to see if they meet Wikipedia Notability Guidelines and have passed to stay as a stand-alone article on Wikipedia. Thus, this project is aimed at training experienced editors from Nigeria on how to track and review newly created articles on their language Wikis.
