From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Project summary

[edit]

Briefly summarize your project proposal.

This first-quarter plan supports the operational setup, public launch, and first program campaign of the Taraba Network. The quarter combines an executive administrative meeting, a public launch event, and a themed media contribution campaign aligned with Wiki Loves Africa 2026 under the theme "Rites and Rituals". The sequence ensures the network begins the year with governance clarity, community activation, and measurable Wikimedia contributions.

Administrative Executive Meeting (Part A)

This activity is an in-person executive planning session where Taraba Network executives will receive step-down knowledge from the national leadership retreat and organize the network’s internal structure. The meeting will be held at a recreation center with a per-person access fee. Activities will include assigning roles, agreeing responsibilities, setting reporting workflow, and developing a shared 2026 activity map and engagement letters. This is crucial for a functional leadership structure, clear task ownership, and a documented quarterly and annual direction, ensuring accountability and continuity of network operations.

Network Launch Event (Part B)

This is the formal public introduction of the Taraba Network in Jalingo. The event will gather existing Wikimedians, interested contributors, and mission-aligned organizations and introduce the mission, participation pathways, and community standards of Wikimedia work. Activities will include onboarding new members, basic editing orientation, and contributor registration. Reusable branding materials will be produced for continued outreach beyond the event.

Wiki Loves Africa 2026 Local Campaign (Part C)

This component uses the launch momentum to train participants on contributing media to Wikimedia Commons and to organize a guided upload campaign under the Wiki Loves Africa 2026 theme focused on rites and rituals in Taraba State. Activities include Commons training, contribution guidance, upload support, and a small local prize structure for valid submissions. This will result into new Wikimedia contributors, verified media uploads, and local participation in a global campaign.
