This project seeks to document and showcase the agricultural journey in Osun State, from farm production to table consumption. As agriculture is a vital livelihood source in the state, the project will cover various aspects, including: farm activities like fishery, livestock, poultry and crop production. Farm processes like cultivation, harvesting and machinery use, Post-farm activities like local markets, distribution centers and food processing.

The project aims to educate on agricultural practices in Osun State. Also, to support local food production systems and foster appreciation for the entire food production process.

We will organize an online training session and a physical training and edit-a-thon session

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

The Wikimedia UG Nigeria has been notified on Talk:Wikimedia User Group Nigeria. 
Furthermore, the network's WhatsApp group will be used for continuous engagement and sustainability of the project.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

The project will launch an open call for participants, leveraging social media platforms to reach a broad and targeted audience, ensuring widespread awareness and engagement.

Participants have their mobile phones for taking pictures and laptop for uploading. Also, to ensure all participants can contribute their best work, we'll offer training and support to help bridge any skill gaps and empower them to produce high-quality content.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

The project's WhatsApp group will serve as a venue for continuous engagement and communication. Also, google forms will be use to evaluate project impact and collate feedbacks which will form strategy for future engagements and projects.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This initiative aims to fill the knowledge void on agriculture in Osun State, Nigeria while promoting cultural heritage and global knowledge exchange, making local stories and expertise accessible worldwide.

We plan to track our project metrics by utilizing the Project Dashboard and the network’s edit ladder to measure contributions during the edit-a-thon.

How would decide the winners of your contest (If you are going to have a contest, what is your scoring criteria)

The judging will be done by a panel of experienced facilitators, a professional photographer and will be based on rules of photography as well as the community standards. The jury will judge individual entries based on the following criteria:

  • Technical quality
  • Originality
  • Potential usefulness and overall value of the image (including its licensing) to the Wikimedia projects.
