- The Wiki Loves Africa 2026 campaign in Wikimedia Nigeria Imo State Network aims to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Imo State through the theme “Rites and Rituals.” We plan to contribute photos, videos, and audio recordings that document ceremonies, festivals, and traditional practices.
- This campaign will enhance the representation of African cultural life on Wikimedia Commons, increasing awareness and appreciation of our local traditions. It will also encourage community members to actively capture and share the vibrant rituals that define our society.
- Through this initiative, the Imo State Network will provide valuable resources and actively engage volunteers in preserving and sharing our heritage.

Project Goal

- Build a diverse and comprehensive collection of media showcasing Africa.
- Encourage greater African participation and representation on Wikimedia platforms.
- Support the preservation and growth of African languages and cultural heritage on Wikimedia.

- We plan to organise a photowalk and an online training session.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.
- We'll promote the campaign through our social media channels, including WhatsApp groups and Instagram. Effective communication strategies will be employed to ensure widespread awareness and engagement with the campaign.
4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead/assist the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse and sign your proposal as proof of availability)

- Yes, participants are equipped with smartphones and laptops, ensuring their full participation in the campaign.

- Participants will receive regular check-ins to monitor their progress in the campaign and provide support for any challenges they may encounter.

- For every quality image been uploaded there is 2 point awarded to the participant.

- Dolphyb is an experienced Wikimedian who has co-facilitated numerous events and campaigns, including 1Lib1Ref, and currently serves as the President of the Wikimedia Nigeria Imo State Network.
- Chinemeremprince is an experienced Wikimedian who has participated in many campaigns and events, including this one, and will serve as a co-facilitator for the campaign.
