Project summary
[edit]Briefly summarize your project proposal.
- The "Wiki Loves Monuments 2024/Wikipedia Campaign" at Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu, aims to engage the college community in the world’s largest photography competition, while simultaneously raising awareness about Wikipedia and its related projects. Wiki Loves Monuments (WLM) is an annual global photo competition that invites participants to capture and share images of cultural heritage monuments, which are then uploaded to Wikimedia Commons for use across Wikipedia and other Wikimedia platforms. This project will not only encourage students and staff to contribute to the documentation and preservation of Nigeria's rich cultural heritage but will also introduce them to the value of Wikipedia as a tool for sharing knowledge and fostering educational growth.

- I will host a physical event on September 13th, 2024, which will include both a training session and an editathon. Following this, activity tracking and online engagement for the campaign will continue until September 30th, 2024. This will ensure participants have ample time to apply what they've learned, contribute to the campaign, and receive ongoing support as needed.

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?
- Participants will bring their personal computers, and for those who don't have one, we will rent personal computers from the school's ICT unit to ensure everyone can participate and contribute high-quality content.
6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
- We will engage participants after the event through online platforms, specifically via WhatsApp for ongoing communication and Google Meet for follow-up sessions and additional training.
7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
- This project is not only about hosting a one-time event but also about establishing a lasting presence for Wikimedia activities at the Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu. By engaging participants through ongoing online support and forming a dedicated community, we aim to ensure continuous contributions to Wikimedia projects, especially in documenting and preserving cultural heritage.
