Briefly summarize your project proposal.

  • The community engagement is thefirst engagement after the election, it will focus on reinforming community members about the Network goals, activities and Strategies. Stating the Wkimedia core values will encourage active participation in the Network. In this project, we aim to meet community members, understand interests and empower community members to create and share knowledge by organizing training and collaborative editing phase where community members will work on specific topics or articles. This will help us in gathering feedbacks and enhancing skills and knowledge.

Also, through this gathering, the excos will discuss ways things are done in the Network and WUGN, like funding, projects, contests, endorsements, facilitation, Challenges and possible burnout areas in the Network.

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

(Hybrid training) One online training and one physical training

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

The members of the Network are aware of the project and are looking forward to it. It has been a meeting the members look up to, to hear from the excos on the way forward.


3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

We will communicate to our community members through our social media channels.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead/assist the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse and sign your proposal as proof of availability)

User:Senator Choko - The vice president, he will assist in training participants

User:10kdollz - He is the communication lead, he will keep community members informed on the application, approval and implementation phase.


5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Participants have gadgets and we will direct them on how to navigate Wikimedia projects with their gadgets.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

We will continue our community engagement through our various social media channels.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This is the new exco elect first community meetup and training, it will be an opportunity to share the network's strategies in keeping the ball rolling in WUGN.

  • We will use Outreach Dashboard and event registration.

  • NO Contest, we will start with minor edits focusing on Quality over Quantity.

What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).

We have experienced editors who are the members of the executives of Wikimedia Anambra Network, they are the one organizing this project and they will organize and train community members on what is expected as a wikimedian, the drafted strategies and the way forward. We are not recieving funding from anywhere else.

What resources do you need? For your funding request, list bullet points for each expense as a unit amount and include a total amount.

  • Hall hire: N65,000
  • Projector: N20,000
  • Communication/Flier: N20,000
  • Food and drink for 30 persons at N3,500 each: N103,000
  • Transport support for the participants at N2500: N60,000
  • Child care: N15,000
  • Logistics: N20,000
