Grants:Wikimedia UG Nigeria Grants/Wikimedia User Group Nigeria Community Support Fund/Wikipedia Training And Workshop At Federal Polytechnic Daura
Project summary
[edit]Briefly summarize your project proposal.
- This project aims to organize a comprehensive Wikipedia training and workshop for students and staff of Federal Polytechnic Daura, with the goal of enhancing their digital literacy, research skills, and ability to contribute reliable, verifiable knowledge to Wikimedia projects. The initiative will equip participants with the necessary skills to create, edit, and improve Wikipedia articles—particularly on topics relevant to Nigerian culture, history, education, and local knowledge that is underrepresented online. By engaging a diverse group of participants from different departments, this project will foster a culture of knowledge sharing and open collaboration within the Polytechnic community. The training will cover key areas such as understanding Wikipedia’s policies and guidelines, referencing and citation skills, content translation, and the ethical use of open-access resources.
