This project is for intensive Wikidata training workshop aimed at building the capacity of editors within the Taraba Wikimedia Community. The training will introduce participants to Wikidata fundamentals, entity creation, use of statements and references, and basic querying. The goal is to empower local editors and increase the volume of high-quality Taraba-related data on Wikidata.

Project Goal

- Equip new and existing Wikimedia editors with practical Wikidata skills.
- Add or improve content
- Introduce participants to data modeling, property usage, and referencing.
- Build a small but strong group of Wikidata-literate editors for sustained community growth.

A one day in-person session.
2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.
We will be using our WhatsApp group for proper communication.
4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead/assist the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse and sign your proposal as proof of availability)

Yes they have gadgets. And I will work towards guiding them understand the Wikidata interface for effective contribution.

This project will equip Taraba Wikimedia Community members with essential Wikidata skills and expand Taraba’s representation on the global knowledge ecosystem. The training will serve as a foundational step toward building a sustainable culture of structured data contributions in the state.
