FDC Question[edit]

Hi Dariusz, My name is PJ Tabit and I am the treasurer for the new Wiki Education Foundation. We are currently in the process of completing several tasks which would impact our eligibility to receive a FDC grant, including incorporation, application for our first WMF grant (through the GAC), and establishing a fundraising operation. While these items will not be in place in time for the June 8th deadline to submit a letter of intent to apply for 2013 - 2014 Round 1 FDC funding, may WEF still submit our letter if the requisites will be completed by the October 1 proposal deadline? I would have posted this question on the FDC questions page but the 2013 - 2014 Round 1 page has not been posted yet. Thanks! Pjthepiano (talk) 20:07, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If I understand your question correctly, the deadline for the LOI and the deadline for the full proposal are separate for a reason. It is my understanding also that you need to have your eligibility established by the time of full application. However, I'd suggest to contact the FDC staff to confirm. Thanks. Upon further review it does look like the FDC can give conditional verification of eligibility, that is, organization X is eligible as long as they resolve these specific issues.
One other question, the letter of intent states that we will provide, among other things, the full name, country of residence, birthplace, and date of birth for each board member and employee. Is this information made public along with the FDC proposal the organization submits? We're just concerned that there are security issues if that's the case.
