Link to staff summary
We have published a staff summary of all 2012-2013 Round 1 Q1 reports here: FDC portal/Proposals/2012-2013 round1/Staff summary/Progress report form/Q1. We ask each entity to also review our general comments there. All the best, Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 23:56, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for taking the time to prepare this report. We are especially excited about the launch of your new Evaluation unit and look forward to learning more about its work soon. We are interested in the advocacy work WMDE is doing within Germany and the EU and look forward to learning about this in future reports (although it is not an activity the FDC is funding directly). We are also looking forward to your German-language guide to working with GLAM institutions. We are also pleased to hear that WMDE is seeking to work with its volunteers to build their capacities to work with GLAM institutions usings tools like guide. We also appreciate that WMDE is supporting several important technical projects that have benefits for many communities. Best regards, Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 23:56, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
We would like to learn more
It appears you are using the expertise and time of your volunteers well and we look forward to seeing more detailed evidence of this crucial competence for the movement in future reports. Best, Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 23:56, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
Suggestions for future reports
We request that you include more metrics in future progress reports. We do not have enough information in this report to easily understand your progress with respect to your goals. We hope WMDE will also deepen its approach to measuring the outcomes of its work in program areas for which metrics were not specified in the FDC proposal submission itself. We have questions about some of your work that could be clarified with some additional information: for example, we see that you maintain a blog to support your political activities, but we are not clear on what the outcomes of the blog have been or how they are related to your objectives.
More detailed information about what worked and what did not work should also be included. For example, the report often states that activities are “helpful” but does not always elaborate on the concrete ways the activities support each program’s objectives.
Please note that we are not asking WMDE to revise the current report, but to take these comments into consideration when composing future reports.
We would be more easily able to understand and analyze WMDE’s progress on spending if the budget line items more directly link to the programs. In the future, we request that WMDE distinguishes which programs correspond to which budget line items.
