Financial Summary[edit]

As explained in our 2014 proposal, WMAT is conducting major changes concerning administrative processes this year: We just recently changed our business year to match the calendar year. Hence it was necessary to do an additional summary financial statement for Sept-Dec 2013, which is being audited at the moment. We also need to plan and prepare our annual assembly earlier than usually (June) to assure a timely approval of the actions by our general assembly. In addition we are currently moving our book keeping from CiviCRM to an external service provider with another professional book keeping software. All this took more time than we expected and therefore we asked the WMF Grants Administrator to extend the deadline for our Financial Summary to the end of May. --CDG (talk) 11:23, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This extension is approved due to these special circumstances, and we thank WMAT for letting us know in advance and for offering this very clear public explanation. We have asked WMAT to add this information directly to the report once it is available. Cheers, Winifred Olliff (FDC Support Team) talk 16:49, 8 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Comments from FDC staff[edit]

Dear Wikimedia Österreich Colleagues:

Thank you for submitting this complete report on time, and for checking in with us in advance about submitting your financial information a little later due to your special circumstances. We appreciate your getting in touch with us ahead of time! This report is clear and includes a good level of detail about your activities. We appreciate your clear overview in the growth section and also your system of labeling objectives with letters to report on your progress visually using progress bars. Details about your targets are included in your list of activities, but it is difficult to understand how those are aligned with your objectives and your progress bars. In future reports, it would be helpful to understand what numbers you are using as the basis for these progress bars.

  • Congratulations on your progress towards your goals for supported content contribution: we note that you’ve already supported the uploading of 6,589 new files toward your goal of 10,000 files!
  • Congratulations also on your successful Wikipedia meets University event: we look forward to how this will contribute to your goal of creating an expert network this year.
  • If you think your learning around your challenges with your media campaign around EU copyright consultation would be useful to others, we encourage you to create a learning pattern.

Thank you once again and best regards from FDC staff! Winifred Olliff (FDC Support Team) talk 23:34, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback on the progress bars. We tried to improve the documentation of numbers in order to increase clarity in this regard in the Q2 report. The report itself is still work in progress, but feel free to check whether the explanations we added so far meet your expectations and please give us more feedback in case there is need for further improvements. --CDG (talk) 16:11, 19 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot. We have looked only briefly, but the new level of detail around the progress bars in your Q2 report looks great so far. We appreciate your responsiveness! Cheers, Winifred Olliff (FDC Support Team) talk 21:58, 22 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
