Informative banners[edit]

I'm very happy you made the "thank you" banner useful and informative (much unlike the WMF fundraising banners' misinformation and anti-wiki propaganda). Five times as much clicks is an impressive result (assuming banner size/obstruction, length of the campaign and number of impressions were similar). I hope such good practices can see wider adoption. --Nemo 08:21, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

As for results on active users, these are very hard of course. For some guided tours there is some research which is not especially comforting: Research:Impact of The Wikipedia Adventure on new editor retention. The main challenge in my experience is how to find something easy for new users to immediately jump in doing: it's not so immediate to give people a link to a typo they can fix, for instance. You could try linking Special:ContentTranslation with some select list of suitable articles next time. --Nemo 08:26, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
