Coming back to add comments, some of which I've already orally communicated to Isarra:

  • You mentioned that Women in Red recently made a decision to keep only some of the WPX UI templates that were originally installed in 2015, and that you would like to learn more about how WPX UI did not meet Women in Red's needs. Since Women in Red appears to be WPX's biggest active "customer," I think this learning is extremely important to pursue and document. I encourage you to follow up on this and make an addendum to this report sharing your findings.
  • I also encourage you to follow up with Whose Knowledge?, and proactively ask if they would provide input into use cases for the Collaboration Kit in support of communities that are marginalized on Wikimedia Projects. As we pursue the knowledge equity strategic direction in our movement, we are aiming to make more inclusive spaces for people who have not been fully represented before. It would be great to see Collaboration Kit responding to any specific needs/requests that might make this tool more useful for marginalized groups. I encourage you to reach out to Siko Bouterse and Anasuya Sengupta and ask for their input into effective ways to get feedback about potential use cases.
  • I appreciate that this project has and continues to change plans in response to real needs presented by Wikimedians, like Women in Red, likely to benefit from your work. It's great to see you adapt responsively in this way.
  • If your current proposal for further work on Collaboration Kit is funded, I recommend that you pursue a conversation with Sejal Khatri to inform your thinking as you move forward with features for tracking metrics. Her work on the Program and Events Dashboard might be relevant for you to understand.

I would love to see the Collaboration Kit succeed more broadly in supporting better connection and collaboration among Wikimedians both online and offline and I'm glad you are considering ways to finish out remaining steps to implement your ideas for making it more functional.

Further developments?[edit]

Isarra and Harej,

The work you did with these two grants was very interesting. There are a few references here to wanting to do further work, or apply for a further grant. Has there been any more developments? I'm especially interesed in anything to take this beyond the English Wikipedia, such as into Commons or Wikidata. --NF Ford (talk) 07:52, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@NF Ford: Hey, thanks for your interest! I've renewed the project in order to finish the extension, which, though currently still only targeted primarily at the english wikipedia, should indeed be deployable to any project interested once the blockers are resolved, as it's a lot more flexible than the initial prototypes. You can see the current grant at Grants:Project/Isarra/WikiProject X, but I haven't actually made a whole lot of progress yet in practice due to the entire thing being a bit delayed by my injuring myself and such. -— Isarra ༆ 03:48, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
