[edit]Got feedbackon the new Form Wizard, Probox, or Add-me gadget that we've built? Please share it here!
The "please-log-in-reminder" shows up late. After filling the first page/window there comes a reminder to log in first on the top of second page/window. In order to log in I had to close the window and all entries were lost. The reminder should be on top. Kipala (talk) 10:49, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
ReferenceError: formsGadgetConfig is not defined
[edit]On Programs:Evaluation portal/Library/Learning patterns, pressing the Create a new pattern fake button, nothing happens.
Copy of the HTML button source code I pressed:
<div style="" class="wp-formsGadget-button mw-ui-button">Create a new pattern</div>
which renders as
Additionally, there is an error in the JavaScript console after loading that page:
ReferenceError: formsGadgetConfig is not defined
I am using the latest stable version of Mozilla Firefox (32.0.1).
This bug report consumed 7 minutes and 47 seconds of my spare time. -- Rillke (talk) 19:19, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
- Bug reports are tedious, but I appreciate that you took the time to provide feedback. Pinging Jeph and Siko to let them know that this error occurred. Jmorgan (WMF) (talk) 20:35, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
Clickable button?
[edit]Hello, should the button "Submit your request now!" at Grants:PEG/Submit request be clickable? In my case nothing happens if I click on it. Using Firefox latest version. --Vojtěch Dostál (talk) 12:39, 22 November 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Vojtěch Dostál. We are in the process of making some updates to the script, and it looks like those updates accidentally disabled the FormWizard on PEG. I'm working on this now, and will try to get it working again by tomorrow. Best, Jmorgan (WMF) (talk) 21:53, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
- Vojtěch Dostál., this should be working again :) Let me know if you find any other issues, or see anything strange. Thanks again, Jmorgan (WMF) (talk) 00:37, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
Lost in space
[edit]I just wrote the greatest learning pattern of all time called 'You are teaching, but are they learning?" using the tool. When I clicked the final step to upload an image, everything I had written disappeared and I was notified that they page does not exist but that I can make it. This was heartbreaking. Is there a reason why this may have happened so that I can avoid it in the future? Things are spelled incorrectly, I know that. I'm too heartbroken for spellcheck. --KHarold (WMF) (talk) 02:16, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Kacie. I'm sorry to hear that the FormWizard malfuctioned on you. I'm not familiar with the issue you mentioned. However, it looks to me like your (original) version of the pattern was created: Grants:Learning_patterns/You_are_teaching,_but_are_they_learning?. Is this the work you thought was lost? I see that you already re-created the Learning Pattern with a similar title here. Sorry about the duplicate work. Cheers, Jmorgan (WMF) (talk) 19:27, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
- Bless you,Jmorgan (WMF) .--KHarold (WMF) (talk) 19:46, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
Default sort
[edit]Is there away that we can have {{DEFAULTSORT:XXXXXXXXX}} with a suitable XXXXX to make sure that items get listed alphabetically by their names rather than all under L? Likewise, is there a better way of doing this. I have applied this on the one learning pattern I have uploaded, but it still appears on category pages with "Grants:Learning patterns/" at the beginning of the entry, which I feels hardly helps readability. Fabian Tompsett (WMUK) (talk) 14:47, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Fabian Tompsett (WMUK). I'm not aware of a solution to this issue, but you're welcome to peruse the DynamicPageList documentation and experiment with its many parameters. EGalvez (WMF) and MCruz (WMF) may also have ideas. Cheers, Jmorgan (WMF) (talk) 22:04, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. I think I shall remain at the level of Wiki coding rather than heading into DynamicPageList documentation.Fabian Tompsett (WMUK) (talk) 12:01, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
Learning pattern form
[edit]Does not submit at the end. Used custom image. Does not even step back to find text typed. Have to do it all over again, the manual way.--ManosHacker (talk) 13:46, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry about the wasted work, ManosHacker. Can you tell me how long you spent writing in the form before you clicked "Submit"? If a long time went by between when you started and when you submitted, the issue may be that a timeout issue--similar to the "loss of session data" error that happens sometimes with wiki pages. If you can give me a time estimate, that will help us debug. Thanks! Jmorgan (WMF) (talk) 00:58, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, it was a long time, as we are used onwiki, for sure more than 20 minutes. But when we resumbit onwiki, it works. There should be a back button to be able to view form data for copying, at least.--ManosHacker (talk) 06:35, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
- Same problem, infuriating. Why don't we have it all in one screen, everything, this would allow us at least to copy-paste what was most difficult to write (compared to options for selecting from the drop down). Or at least notify the users that this session timeout problem exists and people are advised to save a copy in advance! →Spiritia 12:46, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
I just had the same problem too. Tried with and without custom image. Clicking submit simply did nothing. I didn't spend so long filling in the forms because I copied and pasted some of the text. T Arrow (talk) 14:38, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
- Same here. Just lost an hour of work. It seems that if you take more than a few minutes to finish the form, you risk a MediaWiki session timeout which causes all content in the form to be lost. I don't have a quick fix other than recommending people to write one sentence in the form and then expand it in Wikitext later...! Alternatively we can have something like ContentTranslation with autosave, but that's a whole extension on its own. Deryck C. 15:31, 23 August 2017 (UTC)
- Harej_(WMF) FYI Jmorgan (WMF) (talk) 18:18, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
- Harej_(WMF), Jmorgan (WMF) The problem still persists. It's such a waste of time. Why can't we use pre instead to save some volunteer time? --Subhashish Panigrahi (talk) 02:41, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
- Psubhashis sorry it's frustrating. I don't maintain this gadget anymore, and I can't fix your problem. You can still create patterns the normal wikipage way, and copy/paste template parameters and categories from other patterns. You can also use the non-JS fallback option. Look for the text "Would you prefer to create your pattern in the traditional way?" on Learning patterns. Hope that helps Jmorgan (WMF) (talk) 20:40, 9 August 2018 (UTC)

- It's been 5 years, this is an unacceptable waste of volunteers' time. This gadget should be disabled. The prompt to create a custom image is a trap that will often lead to session timeout, as just happened to me again.--Pharos (talk) 05:34, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

Wiki Go
