Grants talk:PEG/7amleh/Workshops to promote Palestinian participation on Wikipedia/Report

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Hi 7amleh. Thank you for this report and all your work on the project. It's great to hear so many new people were trained on editing Wikipedia and learned about the importance of adding content relevant to Palestine to the encyclopedia. We have a couple of follow-up questions:

  1. In the proposal you wrote, "We will measure the success of our project by looking at the amount of the participant's contributions to Wikipedia, the duration of their contributions (we believe that the group will be contributing for two years), and the amount of visits to their articles or articles they have edited." Have you been able to keep track of the participants to see if and how they have contributed to the Wikimedia projects? What kind of engagement did you do with them afterwards?
  2. One of the goals was to "create a small network of Wikipedia trainers who would be able to sustain the project into the future". Was this still a relevant goal and if yes, has this project continued?
  3. Thank you for your reflections on how to improve the workshops. Tailoring workshops to a specific field is always a good idea to ensure participants are engaged!

Dear Alex, thank you for your feedback. Regarding your questions: 1. We are still in contact with 6 of the participants who are still actively engaged and are writing articles. Unfortunately, it has been quite difficult staying in contact with everyone and staying up to date with all articles. 2. 7amleh still aims to create a network of Wikipedia trainers, but so far, unfortunately, this has not happened. Nevertheless, 7amleh still has this on the agenda and is aiming to do so. --7amleh (talk) 08:28, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
