Add topic-Feedback regarding your application-
[edit]Dear Igala WIkimedia Community,
Thank you very much for your application. We appreciate your continuous efforts in promoting Igala language and culture through Wikimedia projects. The Committee would like to recognize that the strength of your proposal lies in its focus on building capacity among Igala speakers, promoting knowledge equity, and increasing free knowledge content in the Igala language, particularly through Igala Wikipedia and other sister projects.
The WMF Community Resources team and the Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Funds Committee have convened to review your application and we have the following question for feedback before reaching a final decision:
- Would you kindly provide some detailed information on your ability to complete a 1-year general support fund? What is your experience of conducting a long period Wikimedia project? How much money Rapid Funds have you received before and for each one would you kindly share the key outcomes and deliverables ?
Thank you very much, and please feel free to share your feedback in this discussion page by Sunday, November 9, 2025 at 12 PM UTC.
Wishing you the best of luck.
On behalf of the WMF Community Resources team and the SSA Regional Funding Committee WBuloso-WMF (talk) 18:34, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
- Dear WMF Community Resources Team and the Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Funds Committee,
- Thank you for your kind message and for acknowledging our efforts to promote the Igala language and culture through Wikimedia projects. We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to provide additional information regarding our capacity and experience in delivering a 1-year General Support Fund.
- Over the past few years, the Igala Wikimedia Community has successfully implemented multiple Wikimedia Foundation Rapid Fund projects and other projects with measurable impact and accountability.
- Below is a summary of our experience and key outcomes:
- In September 2022, we conceived the idea of revitalizing the Igala language, this journey began with support from a Wikitongues grant acceleration project in the year 2023 where we were funded to start up Igala Wikipedia on Wikimedia Incubator
- https://wikitongues.org/fellows/agnes-ajuma/
- We were able to organize an in-person event and then a series of online events trying to get Igala speakers acquainted with the Wikimedia platform, especially Wikipedia. That was before the development of the event registration tool. We were able to create 327 Wikipedia articles during the project. - In total the funds we received plus the collaborations we made with other communities is 20,292USD
- We believe our experience managing multiple Rapid Funds and coordinating multi-community collaborations such as the WikiForHumanRights 2025 in Nigeria https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiForHumanRights_2025_in_Nigeria has prepared us to successfully implement and sustain a 1-year General Support Fund. Our community has grown stronger, with a core team member like Ogali Hillary who serves as the international facilitator for the Wiki Loves Africa photographic campaign. Hillary is capable of managing timelines and programmatic outcomes effectively.
- We remain committed to transparency, inclusion, and measurable impact in all our activities.
- Thank you once again for your consideration. We look forward to your feedback and the opportunity to continue promoting the Igala language and culture through Wikimedia projects.
- Warm regards,
- Abah Agnes Ajuma
