General Support Fund proposal approved for multiyear funding in the amount of 16,209,396 CZK

Congratulations! Your proposal is approved for partial funding over a period of three years in the amount of 16,209,396 CZK with a grant term starting 1 January 2026 and ending 31 December 2028. This total is distributed over three years in the following manner:

Year 1: 5,403,132 CZK

Year 2: 5,403,132 CZK

Year 3: 5,403,132 CZK

We were not able to support full funding for Years 2 and 3 due to limitations on our regional budget forecast. The Community Resources team will inform you if it is possible to request funding increases for these years when the regional budget is confirmed for these fiscal years, but it may be necessary to maintain this level of funding over the three-year period without funding increases.

The committee appreciates that your application shows diverse programming and effective community engagement, along with extensive partnerships and strong community support. These elements bring potential for significant positive impact. The committee also noted the chapter’s transparency around community feedback processes. Related to this work, the committee requested:

• if the semi-annual questionnaire form for chapter members could be shared on the talk page, as we would like to be able to point to more examples of recent, structured community engagement practices for other affiliates, and
• outside of the semi-annual questionnaire, have your practices around gathering feedback for annual planning and assessing stakeholder needs been effective? Has it been challenging to ascertain community needs in some ways?

Dear RC members,

Thank you for evaluating our application and reflecting on our long-term work. Thank you also for clarifying the distribution of allocated support across specific years; this makes it clear.

Answers to questions to gain feedback and engage the community in this wayː

In general, regarding feedback for the preparation of the Strategic Plan (our experience from 2024, when we were preparing the plan for 2025–2027). We have also described some details in the Diff article:

We divide the Czech community into at least 15 stakeholder groups, and for each one we had a different system of involvement in gathering needs so that it best suited their possibilities.

We used public questionnaires for the three largest groups: editors, photographers, and community organizers. Otherwise, we obtained feedback through thematic meetings, focus groups, and a series of facilitated meetings with association members.

We consider this approach, i.e., the use of tools that enable short and targeted involvement based on the "expertise" of the target group, to be key, and it has proven to be effective.

[Challenges]ː However, it required several months of preparation. The WMCZ board approved the SP preparation system in December 2023, and the collection and evaluation took place in the first half of 2024. We do all of this internally, carried out by the WMCZ team, which is also a limitation (in terms of capacity), but we have never managed to finance research externally, even through WMF research grants.

In contrast, feedback for members is collected through a targeted questionnaire on specific activities of the association over the past period, which includes scaling, and we determine whether we are meeting the association's goals from the members' perspective, verify the members' interest in our activities, and their views on the WMCZ Annual Plan. The collection is done via a Google formː

The questionnaire is divided into eight sections:

(1): We determine whether members are interested in providing detailed feedback on our activities and, if not, whether this is because they are (a) satisfied or (b) dissatisfied with our activities.

(2): We determine whether members perceive the association's activities in the past period as high quality (scale).

(3) We find out whether the association has fulfilled its goals in the past period within the framework of specific activities within the Educational Programs.

(4) We find out whether the association has fulfilled its goals in the past period within the framework of specific activities within the Community Programs.

(5) We determine whether the association has fulfilled its objectives in the past period within the framework of specific activities within the Partnership Programs.

(5) We determine whether the association has fulfilled its objectives in the past period through specific activities within the Partnership Programs.

(6) We determine whether the member has been involved in the association's activities in the past period

(7) and in what role.

(8) We determine what kind of involvement the members would be interested in in the future.

If there is anything else from our experience that you would find useful, we are at your disposal.
