[edit]

Hello Caitib01, and thanks for this proposal supporting a series of edit-a-thons supported by the Boulanger Initiative with focus on underrepresented women and nonbinary composers. I am supporting the proposal for full funding with the following comments:

  • It is very helpful to see that the open access database maintained by BI appears well-placed to support various improvements, and that some of this work is relatively easy to teach to newcomers (such as adding sources).
  • That your focus for newcomers is not on article creation is a good practice around workshops. Aside from improving sourcing, what other kinds of editing or contributions were you planning to providing training support on?
  • I am also glad to see there is a well-structured communication plan for participation, including meaningful follow up and appreciation for their work after the event.
  • Two suggestions I had was to work to identify any participants who appear to be especially enthusiastic or curious about the activities, and to personally reinvite them to come to another edit-a-thon you will be hosting in this series if possible. The second was to consider reaching out Wikimedia DC, a Wikimedia affiliate who may be able to provide some support for your event, and whose members may be interested in attending!

Good luck with the edit-a-thons later this year, and thanks again for your proposal. With thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 05:39, 4 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello @I JethroBT (WMF), thank you for your comments, questions, and support! I'll address your comments below:
1. We are planning to provide training support on adding hyperlinks, structuring and re-structuring articles, and adding cited information/content.
2. Thank you for these suggestions to reengage enthusiastic users, and I will absolutely reach out to Wikimedia DC! Caitib01 (talk) 21:19, 9 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
