Nigerian literature holds immense cultural and educational value, yet significant gaps remain in its representation across Wikimedia projects. This project takes a bold step toward bridging those gaps by building on past achievements, such as Wikidata for Nigerian Novelists and Novels and Promoting Nigerian Books and Authors (#EveryBookItsReader).

With activities like training sessions, source-a-thons, and quote-a-thons, this initiative will enhance the visibility and accessibility of Nigerian literature on platforms like Wikisource, Wikiquote, and Wikidata. By preserving and promoting our literary heritage, this project advances Wikimedia’s vision of a world where free knowledge is universally accessible. I Strong support Strong support this effort to spotlight Nigerian literature and its authors. --Ridzaina (talk) 04:20, 9 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

This proposal aims to bridge the gap for underrepresented Nigerian Literature on some Wikimedia projects like Wikisource, Wikiqoute and more items on wikidata. By collaborating with communities such as authors, librarians, and publishers, it fosters inclusivity and strengthens the global visibility of Nigerian authors and their works. This way it helps in promoting the mission of the Wikimedia Foundation which is "to make knowledge free and accessible to everyone in the world" thereby i Strong support Strong support this project.

I fully support the EveryBookItsReader2025 Nigeria edition, aiming to improve the representation of Nigerian literature and authors across Wikimedia platforms such as Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Wikisource. Nigerian books have great cultural and educational value, but many are still underrepresented online. This campaign will help address that gap, building on successful previous projects like the 2022 Wikidata initiative and the 2023 promotion of Nigerian authors.

The project’s strategies are well thought out, focusing on collaboration with authors, librarians, and cultural groups to ensure high-quality content. It also emphasises reaching underrepresented authors and works, ensuring inclusivity.

I believe it will have a meaningful impact on the visibility of Nigerian literature and contribute to the global sharing of knowledge. Strong support Strong support

Rapid Fund Request : Not Funded

[edit]

Hello, thank you for submitting your Rapid Fund request.

We appreciate your willingness to contribute to the Wikimedia Movement. We have completed the initial review of your application and we decided to not fund it.  We see you have minimal contributing experience / activity on the Wikimedia projects you want to contribute to with this project - Wikisource, Wikquote. We encourage you to work with others on similar projects that way you gain the experience needed and also be part of a collaborative effort.
