Response to rapid fund application

[edit]

Dear @R.T.Argenton, We kindly remind you to submit any pending reports, so you can be eligible to apply for a new rapid fund. Please let us know if you need any support. Kind regards, Mercedes Mercedes Caso (platícame) 02:41, 28 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi MCasoValdes (WMF),
We typed down the WLE, but I am not used to the new system and forgot to send it to evaluation.
I did it on 18 Jan but didn't receive any feedback.
Can you check if I missed any other step? Thank you. Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton m 19:48, 6 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Updated eligibility status and response to rapid fund application

[edit]

Dear @R.T.Argenton, Thanks for submitting this grant request. We appreciate your idea and the proposed project plan. To be eligible to apply for a new rapid fund, we kindly remind you to submit:

In the meantime, we have reviewed this application and have a few questions, requests, and suggestions.

Foto.br is a group of professional and skilled photographers. One strength of the proposal is that it could support capturing images of environments and places that might generally be inaccessible due to research access restrictions or that are otherwise not open to the public.

1. We would like to understand how you plan to determine what places under the protections/restrictions you described are being prioritized in this expedition.

2. The expected impact mainly focuses on uploads to Wikimedia Commons. How will these images be discovered and integrated into relevant Wikimedia projects so that these protected areas will be better documented? As you know, images are not easy to surface on Commons alone, so we want to ensure that you include a more direct outreach strategy and integration to provide to contributors in the future and consider this a priority of the project to increase its potential impact.

3. Regarding the scholarship: Please share more about the criteria for selecting the photographer who receives the scholarship. Does she/he need to be a wikimedian? Does she/he need to have experience in photography/ in Commons? What would be the commitment of that person regarding Wikimedia projects?

Please adjust the project dates and make any other adjustments to the proposal.

We are sending the application back to you to make the requested changes. Please make these changes as soon as possible and re-submit the application. Please submit the information requested as soon as possible to be eligible for a rapid grant. Once eligibility is confirmed, we can continue processing this application.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Best regards, --Mercedes Caso (platícame) 03:44, 5 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Response to rapid fund application

[edit]

Dear @R.T.Argenton,

Thanks for submitting this grant request. We appreciate your idea and the proposed project plan. To be eligible to apply for a new rapid fund, we kindly remind you to submit. We have reviewed this application and have a few questions, requests, and suggestions. About:

Questionnaire_Question 1. Your group has clear criteria for selecting sites that are difficult to access, have limited access to the general public and currently have no photos available. We would like to better understand the importance of selecting the Águas do Cuiabá Ecological Station for the photographic expedition in terms of your criteria.

Questionnaire_Question 3. Scholarship. Understanding the importance of identifying newly qualified photographers committed to the ecological cause, as well as knowledgeable about the region where the expedition will take place, have you considered promoting the call for proposals within the Águas do Cuiabá Ecological Station and surrounding areas to find local photographers who can sustain the effort by developing their capacity to continue recording local biodiversity once the expedition is over?

Questionnaire_Question 13.1: Partnerships Could you please make sure the link added to answer the question about describing your partners” is working? Or, if you prefer, you can also add the answer directly in the question field. We are particularly interested in learning if you have already identified the potential local partners that can be meaningful to the project objectives.

Questionnnaire_Question 15: Learning, sharing and evaluation Could you please make sure the link added to answer the “What do you hope to learn from your work in this fund proposal?” is working. Or, if you prefer, you can also add the answer directly in the question field.

Questionnaire_Question 17. Metrics. In question 2, you mention that all images and data collected during the expedition should be organized and stored in Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons. We recognize your commitment to ensuring that all materials uploaded into Wikimedia projects are better documented to ease the findability of the content generated. In particular, any efforts you plan on integrating the content generations with local and relevant panthers that can make further use of the materials.

As part of question 17, please add the goals you envision achieving for Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata through this expedition. (We know you added 2000 Commons as part of answer 17.1. That answer should be moved to 17 Core metrics.)

Questionnaire_Question 19. Financial proposal

  • Please make sure to add the same USD amount requested that appears on the budget spreadsheet ($4,725.08) to the grant amount requested ($4,000).
  • Could you please better describe the line about “Subsistence allowance for organizers”.

We are sending the application back to you to make the requested changes. Please make these changes as soon as possible and re-submit the application.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Best regards,

--Mercedes Caso (platícame) 19:22, 22 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Subsistence allowance for organizers
In the last expedition, we had to sign a bunch of documents, as the government requires, we had some luck, as part of them were at a fair in SPaulo, so the first negotiations could be made without the necessity of going to the city of the expedition. However, this time it will not be possible, so the organizers will probably have to travel a moment before the expedition to sign docs, check the accommodations, the safety of trails etc.
So basically food, flight tickets, accommodation, for these days. Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton m 16:06, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
