Endorsement/engagement from the Nigerian Wikimedia Community

[edit]

The Nigerian Wikimedia community was duely engaged in planning this proposal and the feedback of the community can be found at https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Wikimedia_User_Group_Nigeria#Proposal_discussion:_Enhancing_Source_Reliability_Awareness_Among_Nigerian_Editors

Strong support - This proposal is a game-changer for the Nigerian Wikipedia community because it directly tackles the issue of source reliability, which is crucial for quality content. By offering training, mentorship, and useful resources, it gives editors the skills they need to identify and use credible sources, ultimately improving the reliability of articles. One of the best things about this project is its community-driven approach. It is not just about teaching people; it is about engaging them, reaching underrepresented groups, and making sure more editors feel confident contributing. The plan is well thought out, and the expected results lines up well, making it a solid initiative that can have a lasting impact on Wikipedia in Nigeria. Additionally, the project lead is a fantastic editor whom I have worked with before, and I have no doubt they are going to do a great job executing this project.--Idoghor Melody (talk) 06:35, 20 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

The project has identified a deep rooted problem that has been facing Nigeria Wikimedia editors for years. Understanding source reliability and analysis would help Nigerian editors to navigate their ways in creating notable articles that are devious of promotional pieces.

Also, the mentorship program is a good initiative too. It will create a flow of knowledge and eventually produce good editors who would be bold to contribute to Wikipedia.

Additionally, the project has been endorsed by different Nigerian Wikimedians at the talk page of Wikimedia Usergroup Nigeria. This is to show the anticipation and the willingness to participate in the project.

Lastly, as one of the facilitators, I have been duly informed of my roles and responsibilities and I will participate to further ensure the success of the project. Ibjaja055 (talk) 07:48, 20 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
