While inspired in part by the English Wikipedia Vital Articles list, it includes localized adaptations, such as featuring regional history relevant to Telugu speakers under the “History” section. |

Explanation 2a) The Medan community is actively involved in various Wikimedia projects and has developed several programs, funded by microgrants and occasionally rapid funds. 2b) Irnabela was an event coordinator for Wikisource Conference 2025, and Really Rin was a project coordinator during the microgrant project. They have some experience in project management and reporting on the project. |

Explanation 3a) They have a plan to initiate collaboration, although it is unclear which partner they intend to invite. The project requires more clarity on the partners that they will be working with to provide fact checking support to ensure the content accuracy of the uploaded content. |

Explanation 4a) The budget mostly goes to third parties (such as dancers, dresses, makeup, and models), which is unsustainable, as these third parties may not be deeply involved in the Wikimedia movement. |

Explanation 5a) The project covers training in Wikimedia projects and also various documentation programs, which can attract more newcomers. However, the metrics of content contribution to Wikimedia projects are relatively low. 5b) For Wikipedia, it may have positive effects on readership and the connection between articles. I want to add metrics on how many photos on Commons are used in other Wikimedia projects. I remember that PetScan tools can be used to track the usage of files on Commons |

- Terima kasih atas ulasan dan masukannya terhadap proposal kami. Berikut adalah tanggapan kami untuk pertanyaan pada Bagian 6:
- 6a) Kami memahami pentingnya mengidentifikasi kesenjangan konten budaya Karo sebelum proyek dimulai. Oleh karena itu, kami akan melakukan pemetaan artikel, gambar, dan data yang sudah tersedia di Wikipedia, Wikisource, Wikidata, dan Commons.

- Konten yang akan kami tingkatkan meliputi:
- Tarian Karo
- Makanan khas Karo
- Pakaian adat Karo
- Saat ini, artikel tentang tarian Karo hanya ada dua dan masih perlu banyak pengembangan:
- Artikel tentang makanan khas Karo hanya tiga dan juga masih terbatas:
- Sedangkan untuk “baju adat Karo” belum ada artikel yang membahas secara khusus di Wikipedia bahasa Indonesia.
- Dalam proyek ini, kami akan fokus pada:
- Proses pembuatan makanan khas Karo – dokumentasi lengkap mulai dari bahan, cara memasak, hingga sejarah dan makna budaya.
- Nama dan simbol pada pakaian adat Karo – penjelasan filosofi di balik setiap elemen busana, disertai foto detail.
- Gerakan tarian tradisional Karo – dokumentasi dari berbagai sudut foto dan video, termasuk tahapan gerakannya.
- Hasil yang diharapkan:
- Anak muda dan masyarakat Karo akan memiliki sumber rujukan yang lebih lengkap.
- Konten yang terdokumentasi dapat disebarluaskan melalui Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikisource, dan Commons untuk memperkenalkan budaya Karo ke masyarakat umum.
- 6b) Kami telah menjalin komunikasi dengan berbagai komunitas dan organisasi Karo untuk menjajaki peluang kerja sama dalam penyusunan dan verifikasi konten budaya. Beberapa pihak yang sudah kami hubungi atau amati aktivitasnya di media sosial antara lain:
- PP Kebudayaan Karo
- Karo Silima
- Zonakalak Karo
- Ikatan Mahasiswa Karo (IMKA) dan jaringan organisasinya, seperti IMKA Siroga (Universitas Sumatera Utara), IMKA Rudang Mayang (Universitas Negeri Medan), serta IMKA Arih Ersada (Universitas Katolik Santo Thomas).
- Cendekiawan Karo Indonesia
- Selain itu, kami juga sedang menjajaki kerja sama dengan beberapa lembaga pendidikan di Sumatera Utara, khususnya program studi yang berkaitan dengan sejarah dan humaniora, seperti Balai Bahasa Sumatera Utara, Program Studi Sejarah dan Sastra di Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Universitas Tjut Nyak Dhien (UTND), Universitas Senior.
- Kami juga menghubungi pihak pemerintah daerah setempat untuk memastikan izin akses serta kepatuhan terhadap peraturan dalam pembuatan dan penyebaran konten budaya yang akan kami hasilkan.
- Ke depannya, kami juga akan meminta saran dan dukungan dari Wikimedia Indonesia untuk membantu memverifikasi sumber dan memastikan standar penulisan sesuai pedoman Wikimedia. Selain itu, kami berencana melakukan dokumentasi lisan dan audiovisual agar sumber informasi lebih jelas, terverifikasi, dan terdokumentasi dengan baik.
- 6c) Strategi kami dalam melibatkan “anak muda” yang dimaksud adalah pemuda berusia 17 tahun ke atas. Kami akan bekerja sama dengan organisasi mahasiswa dan klub budaya di universitas untuk mendorong partisipasi aktif dalam proyek ini.
- Selain itu, kami akan memastikan adanya kebijakan keamanan bagi peserta muda, yaitu:
- Seluruh kegiatan dilakukan di ruang publik atau ruang yang diawasi,
- Tidak ada aktivitas yang bersifat pribadi atau tertutup antara fasilitator dan peserta muda,
- Komunikasi resmi dilakukan melalui kanal terbuka (grup publik, email proyek),
- Peserta diberi penjelasan tentang tata perilaku (Code of Conduct) sesuai standar Wikimedia.
- Dengan pendekatan ini, partisipasi anak muda dapat berlangsung aman, inklusif, dan produktif, sekaligus mendukung tujuan pembelajaran dan kontribusi ke Wikimedia.
- 6d)Kami setuju untuk menggunakan tools yang Anda sarankan. Saat ini, kami belum memiliki keterampilan teknis untuk melacak penggunaan ulang gambar di Wikimedia Commons melalui berbagai proyek Wikimedia lainnya. Namun, seiring berjalannya proyek, kami berencana mempelajari cara penggunaan tools tersebut dengan memanfaatkan dokumentasi yang tersedia dan mencontoh inisiatif Wikimedia lainnya.
- Kami akan memastikan seluruh konten yang diunggah memiliki kualitas tinggi sehingga dapat digunakan pada artikel di Wikipedia maupun dimanfaatkan kembali oleh masyarakat umum. Berdasarkan penelusuran kami di Wikimedia Commons, foto-foto tentang Budaya Karo dengan lisensi Creative Commons masih sangat terbatas. Oleh karena itu, kami berkomitmen untuk menambah kontribusi konten hingga mencapai sekitar 400 foto atau lebih, agar representasi Budaya Karo menjadi lebih lengkap dan mudah diakses.

Vital knowledge is a set of articles that delivers the breadth and depth of topics needed for a usable Wikipedia language project. It is defined by communities with reference to notability, relevance, predicted readership, and connections between articles.

- Since 27 November 2025, severe floods have impacted several areas in North Sumatra, and until now the situation remains unstable and not yet conducive for carrying out our planned offline activities. Transportation access, community mobility, and public facilities in several affected regions continue to be disrupted.
- Additionally, following the guidance and recommendation from Wikimedia Indonesia, and with consideration of the ongoing humanitarian conditions in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, we have with deep concern decided to postpone all project-related activities scheduled to take place in the region until January 2026.
This decision is based on the following considerations:
- The disaster-affected communities need time for recovery, including members of the Wikimedia community.
- The postponement is necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of both the organizing team and participants.
- Wikimedia Indonesia has stated its readiness to provide an official statement to be shared with partners or participants, should such a document be required.
