Endorsement
[edit]I strongly endorse the Open Knowledge Practices Through Wikimedia Projects for Librarians in Benue State University as a good initiative that bridges librarianship and Wikimedia projects. By equipping librarians with the skills to contribute to 1Lib1Ref and improving Wikipedia’s reference quality, this project will enhance the visibility of Benue State’s rich heritage while addressing reference gaps on Wikipedia and Wikidata. This initiative is also a crucial step toward improving access to credible information and fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing in Nigeria.
As an online facilitator, I will contribute my quota to the success of the project Ibjaja055 (talk) 03:24, 22 February 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Access to knowledge is needed to drive development in every sector. When librarians understand open knowledge practices they would be able to provide better access to knowledge for their user communities. It is therefore important that more and more African librarians understand open knowledge practices even as seen within the Wikimedia projects. Also, there have been moves to bring in the library sector more into the Wikimedia movement in Africa. A project like this would contribute to building a stronger bridge for collaborations between the library sector and Wikimedia communities in Nigeria. I strongly endorse this project.
