@Jenny8lee: Hi Jenny, and thanks for this proposal supporting WikiHaus programming at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. Unfortunately, the proposal is not eligible for review for the following reasons:

  • The activities are directly and substantially associated with WikiPortraits that we are already supporting through General Support Funding, and is thematically consistent with its general programming in the United States. Rapid Funds is not designed or resourced to be used to fund additional programming on top of what an organization is already being supported to do through General Support Funds. If the festival is a priority event for the organization, it should use its current funding to finance this project.
    • In general, Rapid Fund proposals that look like WikiPortraits programming will not be eligible through Rapid Funds.
  • Your current leadership roles with WikiPortraits and their fiscal sponsor (Writing Downtown) may represent an eligibility issue with requesting or receiving Rapid Funds in general. These restrictions apply in some cases even when you are not a signatory or directly receiving General Support Funds. If you want to apply for Rapid Funds as an individual or in conjunction with other groups you are associated with, we should meet to discuss your specific eligibility based on your current leadership roles. However, even if another person were applying in this case, the previously mentioned overlap with WikiPortraits' existing thematic work would still be an eligibility issue, and I would recommend they request support from WikiPortraits to for specific events/opportunities like these.

Please let me know if you have any questions or want to discuss these needs further. I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 20:33, 3 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
