A1: Practical Wiktionary and Lingua Libre Toolkit and Editable Training Materials
To support long-term capacity-building in regional language documentation, the WikiJejama project will produce a practical toolkit and editable training materials tailored for speakers and contributors of the Lampung language. These resources will combine localized content with proven Wikimedia methodologies, enabling both effective onboarding and replication across communities.
The toolkit will include:
  • Step-by-step technical guides on how to contribute to Indonesian Wiktionary, record and upload pronunciation files via Lingua Libre, and integrate relevant media into Wikimedia Commons. These guides will be adapted to reflect Lampung-specific linguistic patterns and cultural contexts.
  • Editable training materials, such as presentation slides, printable handouts, facilitator scripts, and worksheets. These will be designed for use in in-person workshops and remote mentoring sessions, and will be provided in open formats (.pptx, .docx, .odt) so that other communities can localize them as needed.
  • Video tutorials demonstrating key workflows in Wiktionary and Lingua Libre, with voice-over in Bahasa Indonesia and optionally subtitled or dubbed in Lampung. These videos will serve as reusable self-learning tools.

Yes, the project team has already established early connections with potential local facilitators and community actors in all four workshop locations outside Bandar Lampung, each of whom holds strong ties to our primary target groups—including native speakers, educators, digitally literate youth, and cultural practitioners. These connections will play a pivotal role in ensuring the participation of diverse and relevant stakeholders.
Lampung Tengah (Bandar Jaya)
We have initiated contact and shared preliminary project information with a key community member based in Bandar Jaya, who serves as the administrator of a popular local Instagram media account in Central Lampung Regency (https://www.instagram.com/lamtengan/). He has expressed enthusiastic support for the project and has offered to assist not only with outreach to youth audiences but also with liaising with local authorities, including the Education and Cultural Office (Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan) of Central Lampung Regency. His previous role as a media partner for the Regency’s Youth, Sports, and Tourism Agency—notably in a regional cultural event for youth ambassadors and tourism envoys (Muli Mekhanai Kabupaten Lampung Tengah, https://www.instagram.com/immlamteng/)—demonstrates his credibility and active involvement in government-related cultural initiatives.
Lampung Barat (Liwa)
In Liwa, West Lampung Regency, we have confirmed interest from two potential facilitators—both of whom are trusted colleagues and alumni of the International Relations program at the University of Lampung. Each has strong personal and professional ties with local government bodies:
  • One works closely with KONI (the Indonesian National Sports Committee) of West Lampung (https://www.instagram.com/konilampungbarat/), and maintains connections with officials in the Youth, Sports, and Tourism Agency, as well as the Education and Culture Office of West Lampung Regency.
  • The other is a close relative of a senior official in the Education and Culture Office of West Lampung Regency, and is affiliated with Sanggar Bumi Sekala (https://www.instagram.com/sanggarbumisekala/, https://www.instagram.com/sanaktemekhanjak/), one of the most well-known cultural studios in the region. This affiliation provides direct access to cultural networks and government partnerships, and ensures cultural legitimacy for WikiJejama’s activities in the area.
Pesisir Barat (Krui)
In Krui, Pesisir Barat Regency, a member of the Wikimedia Bandar Lampung Community has been identified as the prospective local facilitator. She is a well-known public event MC and a member of KROE Creative Space (https://www.instagram.com/kroecreativespace/), a youth-led cultural organization that actively advocates for the revitalization of Lampung traditions. Her current network includes connections with the Education and Culture Office of Pesisir Barat Regency, and she brings substantial local credibility, particularly among younger, culturally engaged demographics. Her participation ensures strong community endorsement and outreach potential in this area.
Pringsewu
In Pringsewu, we have received support through an internal referral from a member of our community who is a close friend of a staff member in the Education and Culture Office of Pringsewu Regency. This direct line of communication with the local cultural office ensures smoother coordination, legitimacy for event planning, and access to networks of educators and language activists in the region.
Youth Policy
Given that youth are among the core target groups of WikiJejama, we have adopted safeguarding and inclusion measures aligned with Wikimedia Foundation’s youth engagement principles:
  • Parental/guardian consent forms will be required for participants under 18 years old.
  • Youth participants will be supported by trained facilitators in both online and offline activities.
  • Our recruitment materials and learning environments will promote inclusivity, respect, and cultural sensitivity.
  • A dedicated youth participation policy document will be shared with all facilitators, outlining procedures for safe participation, reporting of misconduct, and equitable involvement.
We will ensure that all youth participants—whether students, young teachers, or digital creators—are meaningfully involved, fairly treated, and empowered to engage in the free knowledge movement.

A3: Collaboration with Key Local Institutions
Yes, we have already initiated early engagement with key local institutions and have built strong working relationships through our network of local facilitators and community members. These collaborations are not speculative; they are grounded in established connections and past cooperative efforts.
How will we do this?
Our approach to institutional collaboration is rooted in community-led facilitation. We have already reached out to, briefed, and coordinated with local facilitators in each target area—Bandar Jaya, Pringsewu, Liwa, Krui, and Bandar Lampung—who possess direct relationships with relevant cultural and educational institutions. These facilitators are either community leaders, educators, cultural activists, or professionals with verified access to:
  • Local Departments of Culture and Education
  • Cultural centers and sanggar (e.g., Sanggar Bumi Sekala in Liwa, West Lampung Regency)
  • Youth-focused creative agencies (e.g., Krui Kreatif Agency in Krui, Pesisir Barat Regency)
  • Local schools, universities, and media entities with a commitment to heritage preservation
These facilitators have signaled readiness to support outreach and to act as liaisons with their respective institutions. In many cases, they are personally affiliated with government offices or have served as media or cultural partners in prior official events. This level of integration ensures that institutional collaboration will not be a barrier but rather a strength of the project.
When will we do this?
Institutional engagement began during the proposal preparation stage (June–July 2025) through early briefings and informal agreements. More formal outreach, including letters of support and coordination meetings, is scheduled for August–September 2025, ahead of the October workshop rollout.
Who will we approach?
In addition to the institutions connected to our local facilitators (described in A2), we will collaborate with:
  • University of Lampung (UNILA) – specifically the Bachelor’s Program in Lampung Language Education (Pendidikan Bahasa Lampung), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), which forms the core of our community in Bandar Lampung. Most members of the Wikimedia Bandar Lampung Community are current students of this program, and our collaboration has been ongoing since August 2024.
  • Our previous joint initiatives include:
    • A WikiLatih workshop supported by Wikimedia Indonesia in October 2024, attended entirely by students from the Lampung Language Education program
    • The WikiTutur 2.0 event on 17 November 2024
    • Community meetups (rapat komunitas) in 2025, which continue to involve these students as organizers and participants
This institutional relationship not only provides us with a steady base of qualified youth participants, but also integrates WikiJejama into the university’s broader mission of cultural preservation and pedagogy.
We also have community members who are:
  • Lecturers at Institut Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA)
  • Civil servants at the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Lampung Province
  • Teachers in local schools in Bandar Lampung and Pesawaran
  • Educators working at Ruangguru, a major digital learning platform in Southeast Asia
In short, our team and community are deeply embedded within local institutional ecosystems. These pre-existing relationships ensure that collaboration will be both smooth and mutually beneficial.

A4: Participant Selection Strategy
We plan to implement a multi-layered, context-sensitive participant selection process that ensures representation from diverse linguistic, cultural, and geographic backgrounds while also prioritizing long-term engagement with Wikimedia projects. The selection process will be community-informed and values-based, aligned with the project's goals of inclusivity, sustainability, and impact.
1. Open and Targeted Outreach
We will conduct both open calls for participation and targeted outreach through local facilitators and partner institutions. These outreach efforts will be announced via:
  • Social media platforms and messaging groups commonly used in each region
  • Institutional partners such as universities, language departments, sanggar budaya (cultural studios), and youth organizations
  • Community networks maintained by local facilitators who already have direct ties with educators, students, cultural actors, and digitally literate youth
2. Application Form and Expression of Interest
Prospective participants will be asked to fill out a short application or expression of interest form that captures the following:
  • Language background (e.g., active speaker of Lampung Api or Nyo dialects)
  • Cultural involvement, such as affiliation with traditional arts, oral storytelling, or ritual practices
  • Digital readiness, including access to smartphones/laptops and basic tech skills
  • Regional representation, ensuring inclusion from urban, peri-urban, and rural areas across the five target locations
  • Motivation and interest in free knowledge, including any prior Wikimedia engagement or interest in open culture
This approach balances accessibility with intentionality, allowing us to identify participants who are not only eligible but also enthusiastic and aligned with the mission.
3. Facilitator Vetting and Recommendations
Local facilitators—who are themselves deeply embedded in their communities—will assist in reviewing applications and making recommendations based on firsthand knowledge of applicants’ capabilities, potential, and trustworthiness. This adds a qualitative, culturally grounded layer to the selection process that standardized forms alone may not capture.
4. Prioritization Criteria
While we aim to be inclusive, the following factors will receive prioritization:
  • Individuals with demonstrated linguistic or cultural expertise, particularly elder speakers, cultural practitioners, and university students in Lampung language and education
  • Participants with basic digital skills and internet access
  • Applicants who show strong interest in long-term community participation, such as those with ties to Wikimedia Indonesia’s volunteer networks or past event attendees
  • Gender balance and youth inclusion, with safeguards and mentoring in place to ensure safe and meaningful participation for all demographics
5. Continuous Re-engagement and Mentorship
Finally, selected participants will be invited to stay engaged beyond the workshops through regular online mentoring, contribution challenges, and peer-to-peer review. Those who show particular commitment and skill will be encouraged to take on mentorship or leadership roles in future iterations of the project or other Wikimedia initiatives.

A5: Monitoring, Feedback, and Resource Tools
To ensure the project remains responsive, adaptive, and accountable, WikiJejama will implement a structured system of progress tracking, feedback collection, and iterative learning throughout all phases of the initiative. This system will be built using a combination of repurposed Wikimedia resources, community-centered tools, and locally contextualized instruments developed during past programs such as WikiTutur.
1. Project Management Tools and Approach
We will use a lightweight, collaborative model of project management with tools adapted from previous Wikimedia initiatives:
  • A shared Gantt chart and timeline tracker (using Google Sheets or Notion) for planning, milestones, and responsibilities
  • Task delegation templates and checklists adapted from WikiTutur 2.0, which include logistical workflows, workshop preparation guidelines, and post-event documentation

B6a: Language Activist Experience of Project Lead
I am a passionate language activist focused on revitalizing and digitizing the Lampung language through open knowledge initiatives and community empowerment. My experience centers around two key roles:
1. WikiTutur 1.0 and 2.0 (2024) – Local Trainer Assistant in Bandar Lampung
In 2024, I served as a Local Trainer Assistant for both WikiTutur 1.0 and 2.0, which were coordinated by the Jakarta Wikimedia Community. These initiatives aimed to preserve Indonesia’s linguistic diversity by enabling native speakers to contribute pronunciation recordings and lexical entries to Lingua Libre, Wiktionary, and Wikimedia Commons.
  • In my role, I supported the local execution of both training sessions in Bandar Lampung by assisting with logistics, mentoring participants, facilitating hands-on activities, and ensuring the smooth technical integration of the outputs.
  • This hands-on involvement helped me understand the cultural and intergenerational dynamics of language documentation, as well as the importance of local facilitation in Wikimedia projects.

These learnings will directly inform and strengthen the implementation of WikiJejama:
1. The Power of Local Facilitation
I learned that having local facilitators who understand both the language and cultural context is key to building trust and ensuring meaningful participation. This insight shapes WikiJejama’s plan to recruit local facilitators in each city with strong community ties and cultural credibility.
2. Hands-On Practice is More Impactful than Theory
Participants in WikiTutur responded best to practical activities—recording pronunciations, editing entries, and uploading media—rather than lecture-based training. Therefore, WikiJejama workshops will emphasize interactive and hands-on sessions with immediate, tangible contributions to Wikimedia projects.
3. Digital Readiness Varies—Adapt Materials Accordingly
Even among digitally literate participants, familiarity with Wikimedia tools like Lingua Libre and Wiktionary varied widely. This taught me the importance of adaptive learning materials, tiered guidance, and peer mentoring—elements that are built into WikiJejama’s toolkit and remote mentorship model.
4. Community Follow-Up Matters
Post-workshop follow-ups in WikiTutur (such as group chats, mentoring sessions, and contribution tracking) helped maintain momentum and deepen learning. WikiJejama will build on this by providing weekly or bi-weekly check-ins, peer review spaces, and ongoing mentoring to sustain participation.

To clarify: I did not serve as the project lead or trainer for WikiTutur, but rather as a Local Trainer Assistant specifically responsible for facilitating and supporting the implementation of WikiTutur activities in Bandar Lampung, which was organized by the Jakarta Wikimedia Community.

Learning Question 1: Content Growth and Impact on Lingua Libre
What we want to learn:
To what extent will WikiJejama increase the volume and diversity of Lampung language audio content—covering both Api and Nyo dialects—on Lingua Libre and Wikimedia Commons?
How we will answer it:
  1. Tracking Outputs:
    • Maintain a shared tracking spreadsheet (Google Sheets) to record all audio contributions from each Record-a-thon event.
    • Log metadata including speaker code, dialect, location, lexical domain, and link to the uploaded file on Commons or Lingua Libre.
    • Assign each workshop site (Bandar Lampung, Pringsewu, Bandar Jaya, Liwa, and Krui) a unique content code to disaggregate data by locality.
  2. Quantitative Analysis:
    • Calculate the total number of recorded words, segmented by dialect and location.
    • Use pivot tables to analyze the distribution of lexical fields (e.g., greetings, environment, kinship, etc.).
    • Compare pre- and post-project baselines of Lampung audio files on Lingua Libre and Commons.

C11: How does Wikiquote and Wikivoyage factor into your project?
The inclusion of Wikiquote and Wikivoyage in our project metrics is based on strategic recommendations provided by Ardzun (Meta-Wiki username: Ardzun, User:Ardzun), the Project Lead of WikiTutur 1.0 and 2.0. These recommendations align with our broader vision of expanding the digital representation of Lampung’s linguistic and cultural heritage across multiple Wikimedia platforms—not limited to Wiktionary and Lingua Libre alone.
Wikiquote: Documenting Proverbs and Indigenous Wisdom
During our planned oral heritage documentation efforts—especially interviews and story circles with elder speakers in rural and inland communities—we expect to encounter traditional peribahasa Lampung (Lampung proverbs), idiomatic expressions, ceremonial phrases, and oral maxims that are often unknown to younger generations and rarely documented in formal literature. Lampung proverbs, also known as sesikun or sekiman, are part of Lampung oral literature that contain metaphors and advice. These proverbs are used to convey various messages, ranging from motivation to satire. Many of these linguistic expressions carry cultural wisdom, ethical guidance, and metaphoric richness.
We intend to:
  • Collect these sayings during oral interviews and Record-a-thon sessions.
  • Curate and transcribe them in Lampung (Api and Nyo), alongside Bahasa Indonesia translations and cultural context notes.
  • Upload verified and well-attributed entries to Wikiquote, enriching it with underrepresented content from an Austronesian language.
  • Cross-link selected Wikiquote entries to their relevant lexicographic forms on Wiktionary, and audio clips on Commons, to enable a richer multimedia experience.
This effort not only preserves intangible linguistic knowledge but also strengthens the interconnection between Wikimedia projects through culturally meaningful content.
Wikivoyage: Highlighting Lampung’s Cultural Geography
As part of our field-based activities in Krui (Pesisir Barat), Liwa (Lampung Barat), Bandar Jaya (Lampung Tengah), and Pringsewu, the team will visit various locations with cultural and linguistic significance—such as village squares, traditional houses, community temples (balai adat), cultural studios (sanggar), and oral storytelling spaces.
Based on Ardzun’s suggestion, we also plan to:
  • Document notable sites relevant to the linguistic and cultural identity of each locality.
  • Contribute to Wikivoyage by writing and improving travel guides that highlight local heritage, traditional arts, indigenous knowledge practices, and community-driven tourism spots.
  • Promote a deeper, culturally respectful understanding of Lampung’s geography, beyond conventional tourism narratives.
In this way, WikiJejama becomes not only a language revitalization effort, but also a multidimensional initiative to reposition Lampung in the digital knowledge ecosystem—as a region of rich linguistic diversity, resilient traditions, and living heritage.

For the successful implementation of WikiJejama, we anticipate requiring administrative and institutional support from Wikimedia Indonesia, particularly in the form of:
  • Official letters of endorsement or cooperation addressed to relevant institutions, such as local government offices (e.g., Education and Culture Offices), universities, cultural centers, and language departments.
  • Templates or institutional documents that help legitimize the project’s objectives and Wikimedia’s role in it—especially useful when approaching new partners or formal gatekeepers at the regional level.
  • Guidance on brand usage and partnership protocols, to ensure that all outreach and engagement materials adhere to Wikimedia Indonesia’s communication standards and legal frameworks.
Such administrative support is especially crucial for securing venue access, participant recruitment via institutional channels, and formal acknowledgment of our cultural and linguistic preservation efforts. With these documents and institutional backing, we can approach stakeholders with confidence, credibility, and alignment with Wikimedia Indonesia’s broader mission.

D13: Budget Adjustments and Exchange Rate Recalculation
Thank you for the feedback and clarification regarding the local transportation stipend. We acknowledge that the amount of Rp400,000 allocated per volunteer for pre-event surveys and main activities exceeds Wikimedia Indonesia’s standard of Rp250,000. We will revise our budget accordingly to reflect this standard, and ensure that the adjustments are properly reflected in the spreadsheet.
Additionally, we will update the currency conversion using the OANDA exchange rate, as recommended, and include a revised tab to reflect these changes transparently.
