I have had experiences learning WikiTutur from the organizers and I feel the proposed project is very thorough and contribute immmensely for the documentation of Indonesian local languages. As a country with hundreds of local languages, it is important for Indonesia to preserve and document the diversity of languages and dialects and WikiTutur will enable us to do so through innovative activities.

wikitutir is not just a project but a solution in language digitization and provides a new picture, the wikitutir program provides convenience in recording languages, especially regional languages that have difficulties in recording and media that do not exist. Even if there is one provided by the government, it will be very difficult to operate and access it

Additional questions from ESEAP Funds Committee and Programme Officer

[edit]

Hello @Ardzun,

Congratulations on completing your the first iteration of your WikiTutur project. I am also sharing the links here for documentation purposes.

Thank you for the effort in putting together a comprehensive final report. And we noted that the intention is for the unspent funds from the previous grant to be offset against this application.

I am sharing here the additional questions/comments for your current application.

1) Will you be including lexeme editing in your project?

2) The key learning questions you have highlighted in your application will serve as a useful resource for other projects as well. Please do take time to document and share your learnings in your final report so that other teams can also reference and re-purpose your learnings/ documentation to enhance their implementing/ learning journeys.

Thank you.

Your grant application has been approved

[edit]

Hello @Ardzun,

Congratulations! The second edition of WikiTutur has been approved in the amount of IDR 74,620,000 from 1 October 2024 to 1 Feb 2025. Could you adjust your proposed budget accordingly? You can do that by adding a new tab to the existing excel sheet and labelling it revised. Once you have made the revisions, please reply to this talkpage post. Note that approved amount is based on the prevailing IDR/ USD exchange rate adopted by WMF Finance team.

We know even the best thought through plans may change

In the event that there are changes to your implementation schedule, you can reach out to request for a grant extension (i.e. extend end date). Similarly, if there is a surplus budget or changes to your planned budget, you can reach out to me about reallocation (via email and on this talkpage). There is also the option to have the unspent funds deducted against a future grant. More details here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Return_unused_funds_to_WMF

Let’s continue having regular conversations over the course of your grant implementation. Please let me know if you require support in any way or would like to share your experiences with a wider community through the Let's Connect Programme or at ESEAP community meetings.

We thank you for your participation in the grant application process and hope to continue to journey with you as you embark on this project.

Hello, @JChen (WMF)!
Hopefully you are in good health.
Thank you for giving us your feedback and support to our program.
I would like to respond to the things that have been mentioned above. For the proposed budget, we’ve revised our budget. Please see the attachment here.
Also we would like to inform you that We substituted one of the destination cities for workshop from Bengkulu to Palembang. We have not been able to confirm the availability of any Bengkulu-based Wikimedian as a volunteer, which also makes it difficult for us to connect with local agencies and organizations for potential collaboration. On the other hand, the Wikimedia Palembang community have expressed their interest to join the program and reach out local agencies and organizations interested in language documentation and preservation.
For the Lexeme, we decided to not integrate Lexeme editing in our current program, because Lexeme is part of Wikidata, which our targeted participants are not necessarily familiar with or interested in. That being said, we are open to collaboration with colleagues from Lexeme-based projects, whether as a continuation of WikiTutur or as a separate program.
Thank you.
