Regarding your rapid grant application

[edit]

Dear Mervat,

Thank you very much for your interesting application and for your continuous work with Wiki for She. The WMF Community Resources team has a couple of follow-up questions before reaching a final decision regarding your application.

  • We appreciate your investment in time and effort in supporting and building the capacity of women in the MENA region targeting female-related topics.
  • May you share more about your exact activities? In Q7 of the application, you shared past successes, however it is unclear what exactly you will be implementing in terms of activities and when. In your budget you mention an Arab women contest, mind map training, ChatGPT and Wiki training, and podcast Breast cancer Day - may you please share more information for each, whether there are partners involved and who are the target participants?
  • For Breast Cancer Day, the podcast aims to increase awareness among women and the community at large. Building on a previous similar activity, the podcast will be followed by an editathon that aims to enhance the related content in Arabic. Does this relate to the objective of the group? yes, empowerment starts with knowledge; informed women can challenge stigma and speak up. Education fights misinformation and increases willingness to provide accurate and comprehensive content. For this event, I will collaborate with Wikipedians who have a medical background, as they are best equipped to assess the state of the related content and understand the nature of the target audience. Preparation requires time and follow-up.
  • For the mind map training, I discussed the need to provide women with such skills that help them organize many aspects of their work and life. I’ve started negotiations with a specialist to deliver the training. If we don’t reach an agreement, I will replace it with a different training.
  • The contest is a chance to engage as many community members as possible. Our team is experienced in managing editing contests. We thought of dedicating it to content related to Arab women; it will not be exclusive to Wikipedia articles, but also other wiki-projects.
  • In addition, when will each activity take place? We also noticed that there are several organizers involved in your project, who will be organizing and implementing each activity.
As mentioned earlier, the team has sufficient experience to manage and coordinate activities. For each activity, we'll decide who will be responsible on a case-by-case basis, based on availability.

However, the contest will be managed by Mervat and Rotana

The podcast will be managed by Mervat and Ravan
We recently conducted the "Using ChatGPT for Wiki Work" training at no cost, as we hadn’t carried out any activities in the past two months. This gap in activity could impact our presence, and waiting for the grant approval would further delay our plans. Therefore, we will replace this item with another activity (e.g., Using ChatGPT to Perform Wiki Work-Advanced of the same cost.
  • May you also share the expected outcomes for each activity?
  • For the contest, we expect (and hope for), at least 500 new entries (articles, wikidata, photos, quotes, etc.)
  • For the podcast, we expect at least 20 attendees.
  • For the training, we are targeting at least 15 trainees.
  • Have there been any public endorsements from your community?
  • Not yet—I haven’t asked the community for endorsements. However, I consistently request feedback after each activity to help improve future ones.
  • How do you plan on tracking the outputs or metrics for each of your projects? May you share the expected key metrics for each activity?
  • For the contest, we use a dashboard, and we prepare a report for the public that includes statistics about participation and results.
  • For the training sessions, we use a feedback form, and the analysis of the feedback is shared via the page of the activity.

Thank you very much, and I'm looking forward to hearing your response by July 31st.
