We have completed the review process for this grant request, and we are pleased to inform you that we have decided to fund it in the amount of 3,400 USD (19,800 BRL).
- We appreciate your project’s goal of improving the quality of data on Wikidata related to researchers in Brazil and Latin America. We commend your focus on promoting equity and representation.
- However, we believe that the impact potential on Wikimedia projects is relatively low compared to the amount requested. Approximately 68% (3,000 USD) of the budget is allocated to coordinator compensation. While we recognize the importance of a paid coordinator for this project, we recommend reducing this expense.
- We also note that the Wikidata target of 100 new items is relatively low. Given that 50 participants are expected, this equates to an average of two Wikidata items edited per person. We encourage you to revisit and consider increasing this target.
- Additionally, per our criteria, applicants of the Rapid Funds program should have relevant editing experience and recent activity on the target Wikimedia project. We could not verify recent activity from the main applicant on Wikidata. However, we have decided to partially fund this project based on the team’s expertise and your contribution history to Wikimedia projects.
