The project seeks to address the gender gap in volunteerism in Northern Nigeria by prioritizing the training and recruitment of women, with a target of 70% female participation. As someone from Northern Nigeria, I am well aware of the persistent gender disparities in participation in Wiki-related projects, and I find this focus both timely and necessary.

I am particularly impressed by the project's emphasis on sustainability. Beyond establishing a local Wikimedia network, the project lead—leveraging her role as an ambassador, plans to connect participants with the broader Africa Wiki Women community. This will ensure continued mentorship and support well beyond the project’s official timeline.

Furthermore, the project team includes experienced Wikimedia contributors who will facilitate the trainings and edit-a-thons, ensuring content quality and minimizing the risk of vandalism across Wikimedia platforms. As one of the organizers, I have been fully briefed on my responsibilities and am committed to playing an active role in the successful execution of the initiative. What I really like about this project is how it's aiming to spotlight local culture and stories from Dukku. There's a lot that people outside the area don't know and giving locals the tools to share that on Wikipedia and other Wikimedia platforms is a big deal. It's not just about editing, it's about representation. I'm excited to be part of this and I fully support it.
