[edit]I must say this initiative is a welcome development at the University. I am a lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University where this project is slated to take place. It will indeed be a good medium to create more awareness of the Wikimedia movement in our University. Many of our students and staff are not aware they can actually contribute, edit and create articles on Wikimedia foundation projects. The strategy for this project from my understanding is same strategy applied on the Wiki event that made me become a Wikimedian. After participating, I realized the importance/necessity of getting involved in Wiki activities (being in an academic environment) which prompted me to involve some of my students at the next training I attended. Hitherto, a number of them are actively involved in Wiki projects and activities. I observed that adding categories is one of the ways new editors help out on Wikipedia. It is a nice initiative if participants are guided and engaged in this regard to practicalize how Wikipedia works. I think this project will create room for a larger coverage thereby getting more of our staff and students involved. I strongly endorse it. --Kingsley Nkem (talk) 22:06, 4 May 2022 (UTC)
1. As a member of the Igbo Wikimedian User Group, this proposed project will not just teach us how to add categories to pages but it will also boost the readership/views of articles as adding categories will make the articles more visible and easier to find.

[edit]The project is important because it's entirely new aspect of Wikipedia editing for the community and will allow quick access to Wikipedia articles. Participants will also have an opportunity to edit Wikipedia with proper guidelines.

[edit]This project is a welcome development because it will aid in the improvement of the Wikipedia space by making it easier for readers to search for articles. It would also introduce new editors to the Wikimedia community and coach them on how they can contribute to Wikipedia and other sister projects. Therefore, I strongly endorse it.

Not funded
[edit]Dear Olugold, thanks for submitting your Rapid Fund request. We appreciate your interest in contributing to the mission of the Wikimedia Movement. After a thorough review of your application, we have decided to not fund your Rapid Fund request. Here are the main reasons for this decision:
- Given the proposed activities, target, budget, and change, we think that the budget / impact alignment is low. The budget does not seem to be well aligned with the proposal.
- The proposal does not have any other goal than to train participants on how to add categories to Wikipedia pages. While improving Wikipedia pages is important, we think that the impact that the project intends to bring to Wikimedia projects is low.
- The proposal seems incomplete and some details are unclear.
Thanks again for your work for the movement. Wishing you all the best. DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 10:12, 16 June 2022 (UTC)
